16-bit ALU in minecraft
This is the first part of a planned 16-bit computer that will run entirely in minecraft. That computer will be "Hack" compatible, which is to say that it'll run code meant for the Hack machine described in The Elements of Computing Systems (a fantastic book that you should look up if you are at all interested in how computers work. Its website is www.idc.ac.il ). Some more info: The design was drawn up in a program called Redstone Simulator (does what it says on the tin), which was written by Baezon on the Minecraft Forums www.minecraftforum.net MCEdit ( minecraftforums.net ) was used to help clear off space and import the design into minecraft. Hours of experimenting with prototypes, modifications to the design, and debugging took place in the game itself, however. This project is far from over. Memory, here I come...
How to Build a Computer - 2012 Version!
If you have any questions about the parts used or are looking for build advice, please see this video before posting your question here: www.youtube.com As requested, a new computer build for 2012. A step-by-step walk-through of how to build a computer using components available in February, 2012. This machine was built for a customer that wanted a FAST computer, NOT a gaming computer. However, if you add a video card (or two with the SLI cable included with the motherboard, this would be one heck of a gaming PC). The customer wants to use two monitors at the same time and this motherboards built-in video controller (as well the HD video in the Intel CPU) allows for one monitor to be plugged into the motherboards VGA port, and the other monitor to be plugged into the motherboards DVI port. This video was completely edited, rendered and then posted to YouTube using the computer built in this video. It was edited and rendered using Cyberlink's PowerDirector 9 64-bit on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Filming required two days. Editing required 3 days. Rendering required 3.5 hours, uploading was 6 hours and YouTube processing was 5 hours. Why is My Computer Running Slow?
www.lockergnome.com - Is your computer really getting slow, or is it just a matter of perspective? India creates world's cheapest computer
At the low price of $45, the world's cheapest computer tablet, made in India, is targeted mostly at students. In a country where laptops range from anywhere between $400 and $1000, and where the average income is much lower, the hope is that more people, particularly the country's youth, will have greater access to technology. In the next few months over 100000 such computers will be available in select universities. If successful, India may even sell it commercially, but experts say the design still has a long way to go. Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports from New Delhi, India.

AT&T Archives: Computer Security
Watch a new video from the AT&T Archives every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at techchannel.att.com These films (strung together into one film here) were originally made for the annual Skytop conference of Bell Labs executives, and were shown over a series of days during the conference. They were intended to be a wake-up call regarding computer security issues, and present a realistic view of then-plausible security breaches, along with accompanying set of worst-case scenarios. The computer security team at Bell Labs at the time took pains to get their message across at this particular meeting, handing out computer security awareness swag — water bottles! key rings! — even distributing copies of 2600: A Hacker's Quarterly. The idea was that it was high time that the entire staff took the threats seriously. The cultural climate at this time reinforced this message. Parent company AT&T had recently suffered the effects of a software bug that the government originally believed was caused by a hacker. A few months later, Labs computer scientist Bill Cheswick set up a hacker honeypot to snag and study break-ins over the modems at the Labs. AT&T was a big, challenging target for hackers. Today, computer security is an integral concern to any business, government, or individual, and protection has to extend to mobile networks as well as wired ones. Today, AT&T offers a wide spectrum of network security services, and runs a Security Research Center devoted to developing new ...

The Animals House of the Rising Sun Old School Computer Remix
My last couple of videos I built a couple of robot bands (yeah! machines that play actual instruments). These videos didn't fair as well so i decided to go back to the basics and create a video staring my trustly old HP Scanner and a scrappy old hard drive which was converted into a robotic drum machine. For this video i recorded the audio separately so i could mix it down because the HP scanner isn't very loud. No effects such as delay and reverb have been used. i was very pleased how the hard-drive drums turned out and they sound great. i will definitely use it in my next video. i would like to give a shoutout to James Houston who (i think) was the first person to use multiple legacy computer equipment in conjunction to make a song. Be sure to take the time to view his YouTube video "Big ideas: Don't get any - Radiohead cover by James Houston".

avast! CommunityIQ - How we find new computer viruses
This video includes subtitles in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Polish, English, Czech and Russian. To activate the subtitles in your language, push the "CC" button and choose your language. To find and analyze new computer viruses, some computer security software firms have hundreds of analysts in their virus labs. At AVAST Software, we do it differently. avast! antivirus software users like yourself, if you don't opt out of our CommunityIQ virus detection system, automatically submit virus samples (potential ones, that is) from anything suspicious you encounter. When your avast! antivirus program's virus scanners notice anything that resembles computer virus symptoms, it sends a sample to us -- automatically and anonymously -- for a computer virus check. Every day we receive about 50000 anonymous samples that our systems then virus-test. After the virus analysis, whatever gets confirmed as a new virus goes into a computer virus information update that is sent automatically to all avast! users. Even users of avast! Free Antivirus software receive the same antivirus updates, and thus the same level of computer virus protection. And because we have hundreds of millions of users who depend on avast! antivirus protection for their internet safety... we don't quite need hundreds of analysts to provide you with the best system for computer virus detection and virus removal -- for the best overall computer protection. avast! ... be free (from latest computer viruses)
