20th Composition. or is it my first again? :P #69 - Top Rated (All Time) - Travel & Events - Australia My main thought while making this video was: Make a video that will improve upon the best mario paint video ever (theEvilGrimace's) This is my long promised revision of my first ever video. Unfortunately, theEvilGrimace beat me to it, and ended up making the most respected Mario Paint video ever. I, too, tried to get mine to that quality. I want to be up in the likes of theEvilGrimace, Kacelano, Balloon303, etc. This is my attempt at their greatness. :P I wanted this to be as best as I could get it, and it really could be better...aww. Tempo is 3050, a base tempo of 182*16 and a bit to bypass recording lag (still got a little though). This is my favorite video game track EVER, and it's what got me started in Mario Paint, so this video is pretty special to me. There are 24 clips, over 3 minutes of no repeating music, and 14 hours (almost nonstop) of my life put into this video, so I hope you guys love it. If you want to write an own composition and this video can support you I would be very pleased. I also very appreciate all comments to this modestly try of mine. The first version of this tutorial was lost by a computer crash 2008. After I've seen some excellent guidances by Daniel L. Simpson in the last days (you find it on the channel: danielleosimpson) I found the courage to publish my own stuff here. Students which want to use this traditional method should master all the basic knowledge I have NOT explained here. As a beginner you can reach this level of composition after around two years.

Ross Roy - Jacob de Haan
Jacob de Haan was commissioned to compose this concert piece by the "St. Peters Wind Symphony" from Brisbane, Australia. "Ross Roy" is the monumental late 19th century villa where St. Peters Lutheran College was founded in 1945. The villa has always remained the school symbol. In this composition, Jacob de Haan sees the "Ross Roy" as a metaphor for the years spent at school (a monument in time), where one's personality is formed. So, the opening theme the artist calls the Ross Roy theme initially has monumental characteristics. The rhythmic motion, which strides along in the lower register and percussion at the beginning of the next section is typical of "Tempo di Marcia". This movement, accompanied by repetitions of sound, is a metaphor for the structure and discipline in school. This is the introduction to a march theme, symbolic of "passing through" the classes up to the final examinations. Then, the Ross Roy theme is dealt with again, now in a playful, humorous variation. As if the composer is saying there should also be time for a smile in school. The same theme can be heard in major key and a slower tempo in the following section, expressing pride and self-confidence. This is also the introduction to the expressive middle section that represents love, friendship and understanding. We then return to the march theme in a slightly altered construction.
