Company: Part 1
This is part one of my absolute favorite musical of all time, "Company" by Stephen Sondheim. This is the PBS "Great Performances" recording of the 2006 Revival of "Company" directed by John Doyle, the director of the 2005 Revival of "Sweeney Todd" also by Stephen Sondheim. In both of these revivals there are no musicians, the actors play all of the instruments, very challenging, yet very effective. The star of this production of "Company" is Raul Esparza who plays Bobby, a seemingly happy Manhattan bachelor with a deep hidden sadness. The cast of this production shows extreme strength in the area of ensemble work. This production has one of the best interpretations of the song "Getting Married Today" I have ever heard, Heather Laws does an amazing job with it. Opera Company of Philadelphia "Hallelujah!" Random Act of Culture
www.operaphila.org -- On Saturday, October 30, 2010, the Opera Company of Philadelphia brought together over 650 choristers from 28 participating organizations to perform one of the Knight Foundation's "Random Acts of Culture" at Macy's in Center City Philadelphia. Accompanied by the Wanamaker Organ - the world's largest pipe organ - the OCP Chorus and throngs of singers from the community infiltrated the store as shoppers, and burst into a pop-up rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's "Messiah" at 12 noon, to the delight of surprised shoppers. This event is one of 1000 "Random Acts of Culture" to be funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation over the next three years. The initiative transports the classical arts out of the concert halls and opera houses and into our communities to enrich our everyday lives. Company B - Fasicnated
Company B was a dance pop trio put together by Miami-based producer Ish Ledesma. Ledesma had already found pop success fronting Foxy in the '70s and Oxo in the '80s. Consisting of Lori L., Lezlee Livrano, and Susan Johnson, the trio, adorned with white wigs and clad in blue leather, first made waves with the single "Fascinated," which took clubs by storm in 1986. It crossed over to the pop charts in the early months of 1987, climbing into the Top 30. Follow-up singles "Full Circle," "Perfect Lover," and "Jam on Me" failed to equal that mainstream success, but they were club hits. All were contained on their self-titled album, which briefly charted late that summer. Livrano and Johnson left before recording a second album and were replaced by Donna Huntley and Julie Marie. A sophomore effort, Gotta Dance, elicited little response outside the club world and the remainder of their output would be repackagings of their hits.

Being Alive - Company OBC, 1970 - Dean Jones
Disney film star Dean Jones ("Love Bug")gave a brilliant performance of "Being Alive" in Sondheim's 1970 original production of "Company." Then two weeks into the run, he dropped out due to marital problems. Jones was replaced by Larry Kert, famous for originating the role of Tony in "West Side Story." Kert received a "Best Actor" nomination for "Company" and his performance of "Being Alive" was added as a bonus track to the cast album when it was reissued in 1998. Company: Part 2
This is part two of my absolute favorite musical of all time, "Company" by Stephen Sondheim. This is the PBS "Great Performances" recording of the 2006 Revival of "Company" directed by John Doyle, the director of the 2005 Revival of "Sweeney Todd" also by Stephen Sondheim. In both of these revivals there are no musicians, the actors play all of the instruments, very challenging, yet very effective. The star of this production of "Company" is Raul Esparza who plays Bobby, a seemingly happy Manhattan bachelor with a deep hidden sadness. The cast of this production shows extreme strength in the area of ensemble work. This production has one of the best interpretations of the song "Getting Married Today" I have ever heard, Heather Laws does an amazing job with it. The cast is as follows Bobby: Raul Esparza, Joanne: Barbara Walsh, Larry: Bruce Sabath, Amy: Heather Laws, Paul: Robert Cunningham, Sarah: Kristin Huffman, Harry: Keith Butterbaugh, Jenny: Leenya Rideout, David: Fred Rose, Susan: Amy Justman, Peter: Matt Castle, April: Elizabeth Stanley, Marta: Angel Desai, Kathy: Kelly Jeane Grant.
