Criminal: Clinton ratchets up anti-Assad rhetoric
With the US labeling the Syrian President as a "war criminal" and France calling for his prosecution in the International Criminal Court, the West appears to be ratcheting up its rhetoric against the Syrian government. On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before a Senate subcommittee on the State Department's budget. Pressured by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) into answering whether she thinks Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad fits the definition of a war criminal, Clinton said: "Based on definitions of war criminal and crimes against humanity, there would be an argument to be made that he would fit into that category." Lode Vanoost, international consultant and former Belgian MP says the aggressive rhetoric coming from the West would only make Assad want to stay in power for as long as possible, and by any means necessary. Hillary Clinton Skipping Democratic Convention; Cites Secretary Guidelines
Hillary Clinton's had a near-perfect attendance record to the Democratic National Convention for decades, but this year she won't make it. The Secretary of State for President Barack Obama—and his former challenger—will miss the event in Charlotte, NC, though Bill Clinton will be in attendance. In 2008, Hillary Clinton helped rally liberals around Candidate Obama after losing their intense battle for the nomination. Hillary's reason? Spokesman Philippe Reines told the Charlotte Observer that she was following the guidelines for her cabinet position, that sate she should not engage in political activity. He also said Mrs. Clinton hadn't missed a convention in decades, perhaps since 1968 in Chicago. With supporters like Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi voicing hopes that Clinton would consider running for president in 2016, maybe she's playing it safe. Eastern Michigan Mental Hospital/Asylum (Clinton Valley Center)-- abandoned interior & exterior (3D)
This video consists of various photos through the years--interiors and exteriors of the Asylum. It was actually much larger than any single photo could show. Each photo is just a small section of a hospital complex that weaved in and out. There is a 3D option if you have the red/blue 3D glasses. But if you don't, switch modes to the "cross-eyed" method and you get a good 3D effect. The Eastern Michigan Asylum for the Insane, opened its doors on August 1, 1878. The building, located in Pontiac, Michigan, resembled a typical Thomas Kirkbride model of Asylum (1860's) and was designed by Elijah E. Myers. In 1911, the hospital changed its name to Pontiac State Hospital and was renamed the Clinton Valley Center in 1973. On March 20, 1981, the hospital was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Due to a decreasing number of patients (and high costs), the facility was closed in 1997 by the State of Michigan and demolished in the year 2000.
