While industrialized countries like the United States, China, and India continue to argue over the best way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, small, underdeveloped countries are already starting to feel the effects of global climate change. The worst part is that these countries have done very little to contribute to the problem, yet they're the ones who are paying the price. Ring of Fires next guest says that the US and other carbon emitting countries need to be footing the bill to protect these areas, by what's known as climate debt. From a secretly constructed replica of the UN conference hall stage in Copenhagen, the Climate Debt Agents explain why they (with Canadian activists and the Yes Men) posed as the Canadian Government and announced that Canada was pledging emissions cuts of 80 percent by 2050 and pay billions of dollars a year to most affected countries to help them mitigate and adapt to the consequences of climate change.

Lord Christopher Monckton: The Coming New International Climate Court 1/2

Tonight's Friday, December 9, 2011 edition of the Infowars Nightly News brings an exclusive and damning look at the United Nation's climate talks in Durbin, which aims to put nations under carbon-based debt and commit genocidal policies against the poor. Specifically, Monckton writes that the summit aims include: "A new International Climate Court will have the power to compel Western nations to pay ever-larger sums to third-world countries in the name of making reparation for supposed "climate debt". Naomi Klein on Climate Debt: Why Rich Countries Should Pay Reparations To Poor Countries For The Climate Crisis. With the Copenhagen climate summit two weeks ago, best-selling journalist Naomi Klein examines the grass-roots movement behind the climate debate proposal that argues all the costs associated with adapting to a more hostile ecology—everything from building stronger sea walls to switching to cleaner, more expensive technologies—are the responsibility of the countries that created the crisis. Klein also discusses the 10th anniversary of the Seattle WTO protests and the 10th anniverary of her first book, No Logo.

Climate Debt- do rich countries owe a debt to poor countries for climate change?-1/2

"We Are Not Begging for Aid" - Chief Bolivian Negotiator Says Developed Countries Owe Climate Debt One of the countries leading the call for just climate reparations here at the COP15 talks is Bolivia. We speak with Bolivias chief climate negotiator, Angelica Navarro. Twenty percent of the population have actually emitted more than two-thirds of the emissions. And as a result, they have caused more than 90 percent of the increase in temperatures, Navarro says. We are not begging for aid; we want developed countries to comply with their obligation and pay their debt. [includes rush transcript]

Hundreds of Activists Protest Inside COP17 demanding CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW!

Video © Rebecca Sommer (Sommerfilms). This video shows parts of the CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW! (CJN!) movement's press conference, and our protest inside the halls at the last day of the UN Climate Change negotiations COP17. Kumi Naidoo , executive director of Greenpeace (member of CJN!) was banned from UN premises after leading this protest. Many others, such as Anne Petermann (member of CJN!) have been thrown out as well., their UN badges revoked because they participated ion the protest. Background why the people protested: A central piece of what is being negotiated here at COP17 is the Green Clmate Fund, with a goal of raising $100 billion for adaptation and mitigation projects, but most of the funding is being linked to programs like carbon markets and offsets (REDD+, CDM), which allows companies to continue polluting and ignores the need to drastically reduce our use of fossil fuels, and not simply try to offset them with other projects. Protesters have said they want that their voices are heard. They are calling for the World Bank to be taken out of climate finance, a reference to the predominance of private financing and market mechanisms in all funding solutions for climate change reduction projects being discussed at the conference. DN! Morales Calls on Rich Nations to Pay Climate Debt

Morales Calls on Rich Nations to Pay Climate Debt Speaking to reporters, Bolivian President Evo Morales blamed state capitalism for the onset of global warming and said the Copenhagen talks should include a focus on determining the climate debt owed by rich nations. Bolivian President Evo Morales: Climate change is not a cause, rather an effect. It is a product of the capitalist system, which favors the obtaining of the maximum profit possible. That is the purpose of the capitalist system, without taking into due consideration the lives of others. In Copenhagen, we should enter into a thorough analysis of what countries are the ones that are hurting the environment the most, and we should consider those damages and focus on the countries that bear a major responsibility for the payment of this climate debt, this obligation.

UN Wants World Tax To 'Help The Poor'

Global levy needed to aid "needy people" get free housing, education and healthcare The United Nations wants a world tax imposed on all financial transactions to fund a global model of social services that will provide "needy people" with a basic income, free healthcare, education and housing. The drive is part of the UN's mission to create a "social protection floor" under the auspices of the Commission on Social Development, which began this week in New York. The SPF will become the UN's primary focus from 2015 onwards when the Millennium Development Goals project concludes. "The money to fund these services may come from a new world tax," reports the Deseret News, quoting Jens Wandel, Deputy Director of the United Nations Development Program, who said that a long term funding plan for the project would center around "a minimal financial transaction tax (of .005 percent). This will create $40 billion in revenue." "No one should live below a certain income level," stated Milos Koterec, President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. "Everyone should be able to access at least basic health services, primary education, housing, water, sanitation and other essential services." According to the report, the new global tax is designed to be a progressive scale, with higher earners paying more to help provide "all needy people with a basic income, healthcare, education and housing." This represents the UN's latest attempt to fleece western taxpayers under ...

www.positivemoney.org.uk Toby Lloyd, from housing charity Shelter speaking at Positive Money conference in October 2011. "We are redistributing money, very effectively, through the housing system, away from the poor towards the rich, away from the young towards the old, and geographically as - away from the poorer parts of the country to richer parts of the country." "This system essentially generates the sense of unearned wealth - most people who have done wealth out of the housing boom have actually earned more by doing absolutely nothing and sitting on their assets than they have from going to work."

Ron Paul's Texas Straight Talk 2/27/12: Economy Squeezed As Debt Accelerates

RonPaul2012.com http CampaignForLiberty.org http RunRonPaul.com Economy Squeezed As Debt Accelerates by Ron Paul Senator Jeff Sessions, ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee has pointed out that our per capita government debt is already larger than Greece's. Per person, our government owes over $49000 compared to $38937 per Greek citizen. Our debt has just reached 101% of our Gross Domestic Product. Our creditors see this and have quietly slowed down or stopped their lending to us. As a result, the Federal Reserve has been outright monetizing debt as a way to patch things together and keep the economy on life support a little longer. There is rapidly shrinking demand for our debt, and confidence in the dollar is falling. This phenomenon is hidden only by the fact that confidence in all other fiat currencies is falling faster. None of this seems to really alarm the administration, obviously, as they have just released a budget that accelerates spending and borrowing. The reason the debt and deficits plague the economy, according to this administration, is that the American economy is not taxed enough. Therefore, hidden in the fine print of the budget is a provision that ramps up the corporate dividends tax rate from its current 15% to 39.6%. In addition, certain deductions and exemptions will be phased out; an additional 3.8% Obamacare investment tax surcharge will be tacked on, bringing the effective dividend tax rate to 44.8% in 2013. Keep in mind, this is not ...

Climate change P2/7 conspiracy with Jesse Ventura

Conspiracies are everywhere. They have well and truly entered the mainstream. There is no question in my mind that teams of experts should investigate these issues and conspiracy theories! How many times have you heard the mainstream media dismiss certain points of view as conspiracy theories? It seems as though one of the easiest ways to brush something off is to label it as something that only conspiracy theorists would believe. Well, you know what? A whole lot of the time the conspiracy theorists are right and the mainstream media is wrong. In fact, we owe a great debt to "conspiracy theorists" because they will go places and investigate things that the mainstream media would never even touch. The reality is that the mainstream media only tells us what the government and the big corporations want us to hear, and much of the time it is those in the alternative media that are left with the task of trying to figure out what the real truth is. So don't look down on conspiracy theories or conspiracy theorists. In a world where almost everything we are told is a lie, the truth can be very difficult to find. Jesse Ventura and a team of expert investigators are on a mission to examine some of the most frightening and mysterious conspiracy allegations of our time. They examine available evidence as well as talking to experts and eyewitnesses to learn more about such topics as global warming. In this episode Jesse Ventura starts with Al Gore and goes far beyond as he uncovers ...

TransWorld Snow Conference - Peter Philips Professor of Economics - TransWorld Business

Peter Philips, University of Utah, Professor of Economics and former Chair of the Economic Department A weak recovery from the Great Recession has led to very slow employment growth. Full recovery is several years in the future. Wages and income have been lagging GDP growth for decades dampening consumer demand. However, consumption has heretofore been sustained by increased consumer debt. World trade imbalances have fueled consumer debt in the US and Europe through export dollars earned overseas recirculating into the US and Europe financing housing booms in trade-deficit countries. These booms, in turn, laid the basis for further expansion of consumer debt. However, the recent housing/financial crisis has ended growth in consumer debt, which along with high unemployment will continue to constrain US and European consumer demand for several years to come. Current weak sales in the snowboard industry may partially reflect recent warm weather conditions. But product cycle and business cycle factors are also negatively impacting demand. Nonetheless, money can and will be made in bad times as well as good. The keys to success in an adverse economic climate are solid organization, planning for survival as a precondition for success, know your place in the product cycle and maintaining a realistic understanding of economic trends and prospects.
