LINK: tinyurl.com The Classics were a white harmony vocal group from Brooklyn, NY, similar to the Mystics or the Earls. Originally known as the Perennials, they consisted of Emil Stucchio on lead, Tony Victor as first tenor, Johnny Gambale as second tenor, and bass/baritone Jamie Troy. They'd been singing together in high school, two of them coming out of another local group called the Del-Rays, and became known in their neighborhood at dances and clubs. They turned professional after attracting the attention of manager Jim Gribble, and made their recording debut during the summer of 1959 with "Cinderella," a group original that showcased their range, from falsetto to bass with a rocking beat, and which just missed charting in early 1960. They failed to hit with their second single, "Angel Angela," and just missed the pop listings again with "Life Is But a Dream" in early 1961, though the latter record, after it was picked up by Mercury, earned a place on the R&B charts. Their next record, a version of "Blue Moon" cut with Herb Lance singing lead and the group members in a support role, made it to number 50 on Billboard's Hot 100. In 1963, the group switched to the Musicnote label and made the Top 20 their first time out for the newly founded company, with "Till Then." The latter remains their best ...

Jazz Classics: Dizzy Gillespie - A Night In Tunisia
hip hop fans should recognize the very beginning of this song as one of the many samples in Gang Starr's 1989 debut single "Words I Manifest." this track is simply amazing. everything from Dizzie's amazing trumpet playing to the infectious sound of the vibes that are sprinkled throughout the track. Dizzie Gillespie is famous for being one of the founders of Bebop, modern (along with Charlie Parker) and Cuban influenced Jazz. he died in January of 1993 but left his legacy behind. the pictures on this video show his face looking like that of a blowfish. his face looked like this because he never had any formal instruction on playing the trumpet but learned to play it anyways which damaged his face. you may recognize the style of trumpet he is playing; horn pointing upward. this was his signature and he was the very first to do this. he is also considered by many the first ever beat nick. enjoy.

TNK III is the prequel to Iron Tank on the NES and plays much like the popular Ikari Warriors. Players control their tank with the d-pad (or analog stick) which machine guns bad guys in the direction that the tank is pointing. The powerful tank gun turret was originally controlled by a rotational joystick in the arcades, but instead gets the L1 R1 treatment which is a bit awkward. TNK III gameplay is fun and reminiscent of classics such as Ikari Warriors and Commando. Power up your gun turret but don't get destroyed, TNK III can be unforgiving without a powerful TANK! This CGR TNK III video review has TNK III game play on PS3. TNK III was called TANK (or TANK) for old school computer system releases.

More than anything else, great books speak to us of our own all-too-real feelings, confusions and daydreams." Thus Pulitzer prize-winning critic Michael Dirda introduces his new book, "Classics for Pleasure," a volume of short essays that "point readers to new authors and less obvious classics." "Classics for Pleasure" is divided into 11 sections, each with seven to eight essays. The sections, with two examples cited from each, are: Playful Imaginations, SJ Perelman and Edward Gorey; Heroes of Their Time, "Beowulf" and James Agee; Love's Mysteries, Arthurian romances and CP Cavafy; Words from the Wise, Lao-tse and Samuel Johnson; Everyday Magic, the classic fairy tales and Walter de le Mare; Lives of Consequence, Plutarch and Frederick Douglass; The Dark Side, Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker; Traveler's Tales, Jules Verne and Isak Dinesen; The Way We Live Now, Anton Chekhov and Zora Neale Hurston; Realms of Adventure, H.
