Christopher Doyle Masterclass in Cinematography
From the "BBC Culture Show" (The best of the week's arts and culture news, covering books, art, film, architecture and more). London - United Kingdon Christopher Doyle - Cinematographer: "You see the world, you end up in jail three or four times, you accumulate experience. And it gives you something to say. If you don't have anything to say then you shouldn't be making films. It's nothing to do with what lens you're using." mubi.com Biography: en.wikipedia.org Also check: 'Film Studies: 180° Degree Rule' www.youtube.com Also Check: The Robert Rodriguez: 10 Minute Film School (The 1st & Original) www.youtube.com

Cinematographer Style — The Art and Craft of Filmmaking.
Order / Buy the DVD / Book Online now at: www.cinematographerstyle.com Cinematographer Style is about the art of how and why films look the way they do. It is about the influence of style, technique and technology-the art and craft of filmmaking. Cinematographer Style is a feature documentary exploring the nuances of the universal art of visual story-telling. Director Jon Fauer, ASC visited with 110 cinematographers from 15 countries, who have worked in all sectors of the industry, including feature films, television, documentaries, commercials and music videos. Shot on 35mm film, the interviews were edited down to a 90-minute story. The lesson that this film teaches is that there is no textbook and no rules for artful cinematography. It is an art-like painting, writing literature or composing music. No two artists express themselves in exactly the same way. This is a must-see film for writers, directors, producers, actors and others who collaborate with cinematographers, and also for journalists and film buffs. It will provide valuable insights into the art of cinematography and filmmaking. The body language, animated facial expressions and eyes of 110 great storytellers projected on a big screen in order to fully appreciate the words and deeply held feelings about their art. ARRI, Kodak, Technicolor, and many other organizations and individuals volunteered their support and services. Cinematographer Style: a T-Stop Production Edited by Matthew Blute Cinematography by ...
Cinematography Tutorial: Using Flags to Control Shadow and Light
More lighting tutorials on our blog at: www.lightsfilmschool.com Cinematography Tutorial: Flags are pieces of black duvetyne held together by metal frames. Flags are generally held up by c-stands in an effort to cut or shape light and provide "negative fill". It's important to mention that when using c-stands you should first position your flag exactly as you want it with the c-stand joints loose. Then when your flag is ready, tighten the c-stand joints in order to secure the precise position of the flag. This will not only help you precisely establish where your shadows will fall, but it will also save you a lot of time during your setup. Many independent filmmakers rather than using black fabric flags and c-stands, will instead use tripods, clamps and black foam core. A large piece of black foam core can be purchased from an art supply store for around $10-$15 and it will have essentially the same impact. In fact, virtually any opaque object can be used to flag light. Where to position your flag? Continue reading on our blog: www.lightsfilmschool.com
