Striped Bass Chunking and Live-lining Rig
Andy's demonstrates the common chunking and live-lining rig for striped bass. We use an 8/0 Mustad Ultrapoint Beak Bait hook (Octopus) has a very sharp point. Leader is Trilene Big Game Fluoro 50lb. Our swivel is a Mustad #8 or #10 rolling swivel which is very low profile, and does not pick up a lot of debris. We typically snell our hooks in most cases but if you don't have the time as we find very often we may need to tie more rigs in the middle of a bite, a simple clinch knot will work just fine which is also the knot we use to connect the swivel to the leader and the main line. No more than 3ft of leader. We never use less than 2ft as it makes it more difficult to handle a fish boat-side if need and handle a fish by grabbing the leader is much easier done than grabbing the mainline.

Learning How to Learn (Strategy #2: Chunking)
This video features the second independent learning strategy I shared during my "Learning How to Learn" Workshop: Chunking. I hosted this workshop for my students and their families on October 26, 2011. About two-thirds of my students attended this hour-long, after-school workshop, and I followed up with the families of the remaining children at a later time. Though I try to create rich, authentic, contextual learning experiences for my students on a daily basis, there are still times when they need to learn how to study and remember discrete pieces of information independently, especially as they progress through the upper elementary grades and into middle school and high school. Helping children develop a strong repertoire of reliable "brain-friendly" learning strategies is the focus of this workshop. I hope you find this information helpful, and I welcome your questions and comments.
