I proposed by hacking Chrono Trigger
On October 17th, 2008, I proposed to my (now)wife. Originally I wanted to return to the site of our first date, Mount Baker, near Bellingham Washington. Sadly, there was no discreet way to get her out there. So I turned to the next best thing, digitally recreating the mountain! But why stop there? I figured I'd try and recreate many of our other favorite memories -- stargazing, dancing, even her favorite song lyrics (from the Princess Bride). I'm a college student who is studying Computer Science, and I wanted to do something unique that used my talents, so I did some research on Rom hacking, as she was playing through Chrono Trigger. (A perennial favorite of mine, I can't wait to buy it for my DS.) I even put in her cat, Cleo! I had several goals in mind: First) Keep the area in the context of the original game, the proposal should be a surprise. Second) Get it done quick! I had the ring, I had the Father's blessing, and you can't sit on either of those for too long. You'll notice some of the NPC collision information is missing (the cat runs through a lot of weird places) and I didn't have time to properly debug every tile. Third) Place memories that might be poignant enough to remind her of our relationship, while not inadvertently giving away that this was somehow hacked.(See goal #1.) Overall, it was a resounding success. She had no idea that this wasn't part of the original. She asked, "Hey, are those the Princess Bride lyrics? Do the Japanese really love that movie ...

SNES Chrono Trigger - Intro
My 400th video! So, what happens when your cross the greatest 16 bit machine ever created (the Super Nintendo) with the excessive talent of Squaresoft's "Dream Team" (Final Fantasy's Hironobu Sakaguchi, Kazuhiko Aoki, musical composer legends Nobuo Uematsu & Yasunori Mitsuda and legendary character designer Akira "Dragonball" Toriyama)? Simple. One of the greatest games ever made, on any format, on any hardware generation. As many others, It was not released in Europe (to my great sadness) so it was many years later that I was able to enjoy it. A Wii Virtual Console port is the number 1 request from everyone all around the globe, but this will be tricky, too many people (none of them are at Square-Enix at all) to get the permission to do so... but this has to happen, it just does!* Hope the intro brings back to you as many fond good memories not only of this game, but of indeed, the golden age of video gaming. *And it finally did. Chrono Trigger - Magus solo vs. Lavos
Chrono Trigger Copyright 1995 Square Enix Recorded with zSNES and MEMcorder In the game's plot, Magus tries to summon the planet devourer, Lavos, to destroy him. Unfortunately for Magus, Chrono and his merry band of heroes interrupt the summoning. It's not until much later, and with assistance, that Magus finally gets his chance to face Lavos... But, through the magic of Pro Action Replay codes, Magus takes Lavos one on one here. (For those that have asked--Magus is level 99, with the best possible equipment and a Gold Stud equipped. He's also been maxed out on all Tabs. I haven't used any GG codes to enhance his stats.) I'll upload the final battle later if there's interest. Sorry for the weird ending--the zSNES movie recorder got out of sync.

Chrono Crusade - Pilot
Sister Rosette, an exorcist for the Magdalene Order, is dispatched to exterminate a devil, but ends up destroying a building, so today, as always, she has to write a new written apology. Sister Kate's suggestion that her partner, Chrono, might be the cause, are quickly turned aside like they were just hot air. Rosette and Chrono get new orders and go to the New York harbor, and this time they have to face off with a monster that appeared from out of the cargo on a freighter!
The Best Video Games EVER! - Chrono Trigger Review (SNES)
Chrono Trigger, one of, if not the best rpg of all time. Since this is a scripted review...um, want to read along with the review? Probably not since you're watching gameplay. Well, here it is anyway. Nintendo Cameron Diaz. Developed and Published by Square 1995 Chrono Trigger is one of those games everyone loves despite the fact that it's an rpg and rpgs aren't everyone's cup of tea. There's nothing not to love about the game. Anything you might have a problem with IN an rpg is not present in this game. Combat is in active time, enemies are not random encounters that you can't even see but rather flesh and blood hostiles right there in your line of sight. The story is not just a generic save the world from bad group of heroes formula. Chrono trigger has so many twists and turns it ends up having more than a dozen different endings. Yeah, I mean 2 or 3 is already spoiling the player, even by today's standards, but, endings in the double digits!? This game's creators spared absolutely no expense. One of the great things about this game is it's not afraid to rock your world. Main characters just straight up die in this game, they don't even have to of course since this game has more plot branching than a day time soap opera that's been out since the 60s. Chrono Trigger has a variety of playable characters the main of which is Crono, the silent protagonist ginger Rastafarian samurai. Without ruining too much of the plot, the story basically revolves around time travel in ...
Chrono Crusade - Apostles
Rosette and Chrono are ordered to take Azmaria, one of the Apostles spoken of in the Prophecy of Fatima, into protective custody. They infiltrate a hotel managed by Ricardo, a devil worshipper. Rosette and Chrono try to get Azmaria out of there, but are attacked by the Viscount Lerajie who is aware of Chrono's origins.

Rosette, who has been prohibited to search for Joshua by Sister Kate, goes with Minister Remington's suggestion and takes the test to become a Militia. Remington secretly releases a devil for the test, but Azmaria is also in the testing area!
