Be sure to check out part 2!! Chester Thompson Drum solo, from a clinic 1998 at Thoroughbred Music Orlando. Chester Cortez Thompson made his name as a session drummer, hes played in Frank Zappa's touring band (as part of the much loved 1973-1974 lineups. played on Zappa albums as "One Size Fits All, "Roxy & Elsewhere", and "Overnite Sensation". His longest standing gig was with Genesis from 1977, playing on their tours in that year, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983/4, 1986/7 and 1992/3 and is set to play on the 2007 Turn it on again tour. chester released his own solo album, A Joyful Noise. also played with Carlos Santana drumming on a few tours. blah blah. chester is one of the cats. Chester's playing style is widely acknowledged and respected. some of that was taken from wikipedia

Awesome Electric Violin - Ed Busking Chester
Ed Alleyne-Johnson Busking Electric Violin in Chester UK - May 2006 Fantastic - This is perhaps the best street performance I have ever witnessed. Reminiscent of Jean Luc Ponte's visceral fusion sound. This is in the city of Chester near Wales. Chester has perhaps the only double decker shopping plaza streets, with a second level up off the street within the buildings, balconies running all the way down the streets. jablesj comments - "They were made by the victorians so that rich people would not get wet while out in the rain." The sound is unaltered from the original and was emancipated at great volume in this old town. Ed uses the looper and pedals to great effect. There are no overdubs. Incredible he commanded this fantastic show all by himself, I stood enraptured with all the hair on my body standing on end, grin stretched wide. You can see where he looked up to see my ebullient smile just before he grins and kicks in the distortion. This has been a tremendous inspiration for me. I had never heard him or heard of him before this performance. Ed is awesome! I got some albums of his from the web since hearing this. I hope I can see him again one day.

Pharrell talks about Alyssa Bernal, Chester French, Robin Thicke (calling him our R&B Sinatra), NERD and Christian Rich. Pharrell goes on to say that Kenna is family but that he is no longer on Star Trak and that neither are the Clipse saying "I am interested in growing talent, it doesn't have to be on my farm." Pharrell said that if there was a fourth member of NERD it would be Lupe and that people should not be surprised if they do an album together but it wouldn't be on the next album because NERD has already started working on album and its going to be Nature based.
