Lane to replace the senior management of AMR/American Airlines as it wades through the bankruptcy process. An online petition has now been put into place to organize the movement. Gailen David, a 24 year flight attendants for American, has joined with Kate Hanni,who began the Coalition for an Airline Passenger's Bill of Rights and founded Flyersrights.org, and is asking airline employees and passengers alike to sign a petition calling for a management change at the ailing carrier. The Wall Street Journal reported the DOJ and FBI have begun a criminal probe surrounding the banks $2 billion trading loss. To be sure the lid has been blown off of Jamie Dimon's "tempest in a teapot" narrative. These were the words he used to originally dismiss concerns that the bank's whale positions were too large. But though the tempest is out - there are still plenty willing to downplay the significance. At the storm's eye is the issue that even though $2 billion dollars isn't going to derail JP Morgan, what if it's $20 billion, and what if there are more trades like this lurking beneath the surface? There are also plenty of people willing to parrot the conventional wisdom that Jamie Dimon and the largest bank by assets in the US that he heads up represent the best of Wall Street. But there seems to be a more fitting description of Dimon, as a clown. Apple CEO Tim Cook Visits China Foxconn Manufacturing Plant
After months of questioning Apple's deals with Chinese manufacturing company Foxconn and the treatment of workers at plants that make gadgets like the iPhone and iPad, the tech giant's head has visited the plant in question. Photos provided by Apple this week show Tim Cook smiling and visiting with some of the reported 120000 workers employed by Foxconn's large plant. An investigation into manufacturing there by the New York Times has suggested low standards for treatment of workers and safety concerns. Cook also met with political leaders in Beijing. Apple may be going on the PR offensive now that one of the biggest negative stories about conditions at the plant was infamously retracted by Public Radio's This American Life, after much of contributor Mike Daisy's reporting was found to be fabricated. But there isn't much story to the visit beyond a few pre-approved photos. The only great power that controls its media as tightly as China is, apparently, Apple.
