Living In The Philippines -- Life in Bogo City | Cebu Experience
cebuexperience.com I've been living in the Philippines since early 2008 and soon moved to Bogo City Bogo is a wonderful little city located in Northern Cebu Province. Cebu is in the central part of the Philippines. I like to walk around town, talking to Filipino while I take pictures and sometimes video. This is a collection of video shot over about nine months. It shows daily life in Bogo. The public market, people hanging out in the town plaza or on the streets of Bogo. You will also see my monkey, George. Naughty little boy that he was. You'll see Jollibee and you'll see their mascot The Bee with his girlfriend dancing int he popular fast food restaurant. You'll see pretty Filipina and friendly pinoy (Filipino men). It is a bit longer than most video but it was put together after a reader of my blog asked for it.

It does require letting some inconveniences roll of your back like water on a duck The brownouts in the northern Cebu province drive me a little wacky. The rest of it though it rolls right off. Bogo City, where I live has been out of Coca Cola and Pepsi for about three days now. The entire city is out of both. Good, maybe by the time we get some more, I won't be addicted to them any more. haha Still, I'm able to enjoy a lot of things that I could never manage to do back in the USA. The Philippines is my home now even though I'm not a resident. I live here long term on a tourist visa. It is a great place to live. If you're income is not that great, most people find they can live here at a much higher standard of living than the could in the USA. Oh, you'll give up a few things. If you're income is very low you probably won't have air con for example. Maybe not hot water for your shower either. I have those, not sure I could afford them in the USA. Don't get me wrong. I think the USA is awesome. But for me living in the Philipines is a better choice.

I need some more video tape! :) Yeah yeah, my camera is old and big and still uses tape. haha I have been living in the Philippines since Feb. of 2008. Update: 4-2012 I've been living in the Philippine for a little more than four years now and I still love it. My video camera is all but dead. Works for about five minutes, can't find a battery for that old thing. I'm saving for a new DSLR that has video so that will be nice when I can get it. If you live in the Philippines tell us what you think. I know not everyone likes it. So its okay if you disagree but you should at least exercise the kind of respect that Filipinos give. AT least the ones I know do. if you're thinking about living in the Philippines, tell me what is holding you back? I think the videos do a good job of show casing Filipino culture but you still have to live it to begin to understand it. Despite living in the Philippines for four years, I feel that I still have much to learn. So I don't mind being challenged. I'm pretty stubborn though and I usually just prove myself right in the first place. haha

SINGAPORE, Feb 6 - A 6.8 magnitude earthquake, at a depth at 29 miles, struck off the Philippines on Monday, northeast of Dumaguete, Negros island, at 0349 GMT, the US Geological Survey reported. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that based on all available data a Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected. Update Dozens of houses were destroyed and children were crushed to death when their school building collapsed after a devastating earthquake hit the central Philippines this morning. At least 13 people were killed, and 29 remain missing, after the 6.8-magnitude quake struck in a narrow strait just off Negros Island. A tsunami alert was issued after the disaster, but later lifted.
