Billy Bob Thornton 'Blow Up' on Q TV
www.cbc.ca/Q Q was visited by country-pop band The Boxmasters. The Boxmasters's biggest claim to fame is that their singer is Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton. If you were listening, you heard what could best be described as a 'showdown at the Q corral' when Mr. Thornton took offense to our mention of his cinematic accomplishments. Here is what happened on camera. The performance is not included as we have not yet resolved the rights issues to it. If we do we will post that as well.

Eckhart Tolle on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos
www.cbc.ca Eckhart Tolle is considered one of the world's most influential spiritual teachers - a master of inner calm and peace. In a nutshell, he teaches that you are not your mind. In fact, Eckhart says, your mind is your worst enemy. It overtakes the real you and creates thoughts that make you miserable. So if you want to achieve peace, you've got to disassociate yourself from your mind. The key ? Live in the present. Eckhart sums it all up in his book 'The Power of Now.' He wrote it in Vancouver, where he now lives. The book came out in 1997 and has sold more than five million copies, thanks, in large part, to an on-air plug from Oprah. She's also a big fan of Eckhart's follow-up book, 'A New Earth.'

CBC - The Fifth Estate - The Unofficial Story - Pt 1-5
JOIN The Discussion at: www.cbc.ca On September 11, 2001 the world watched in shock and disbelief as planes flew in to New Yorks World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington, and Americans realized they were under attack. But by whom? What really happened? In The Unofficial Story, the fifth estates Bob McKeown introduces us to people who believe the real force behind the attacks was not Osama Bin Laden, but the US government itself. Emerging from the dust and debris that day was a movement, known these days as 9/11 Truth or truthers people who believe that 9/11 was part of a vast conspiracy and cover-up by a criminal faction within the US government. As the fifth estate reports, public opinion polls now show that the majority of Americans believe the Bush Administration had advance knowledge of those attacks and somehow allowed them to happen and that one-third of Canadians share the same belief. In The Unofficial Story, Bob McKeown explores why these questions and theories are growing in popularity. Youll meet some of the leading proponents of truther theories: Richard Gage, an American architect, explains how the WTC twin towers and the lesser known Tower #7 could only have crumbled as they did due to explosive charges placed inside the buildings. Others, including Canadian professor Kee Dewdney, insist that the story of the brave fight by the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 must have been a hoax. But, youll also hear from others who dispel truther theories ...

CBC Explains Usage Based Billing
You can stop this here: www.StopTheMeter.ca The CRTC just decided to let your Internet Service Provider put a meter on the Internet! You can stop this here www.StopTheMeter.ca Bell Canada and other big telecom companies can now freely impose usage-based billing on independent Internet Service Providers (indie ISPs) and YOU. This means we're looking at a future where ISPs will charge per byte, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay more for less Internet. Big Telecom companies are obviously trying to gouge consumers, control the Internet market, and ensure that consumers continue to subscribe to their television services. This will crush innovative services, Canada's digital competitiveness, and your wallet. We need to stand up for the Internet. CBC Marketplace - Homeopathy: Cure or Con? Part 2 of 2
For more skeptical coverage of bogus products like homeopathy go to www.skepticnorth.com and www.ottawaskeptics.org Show description: Erica Johnson investigates one of the country's fastest growing alternative health treatments: homeopathy. Ontario homeopaths are about to become the first province in Canada to regulate homeopathy — lending credibility to this unproven practice. Canada's leading consumer ally takes a long hard look at the theories, and the remedies. For the first time in Canada, we conduct a test of homeopathic medicines, investigating the science behind these so-called medicines. In light of our results, we ask both the Ontario government and Health Canada why they are lending credibility to the homeopathic industry. Johnson also meets up with a rep from the world's leading manufacturer of homeopathic medicines, who admits that even the company says how homeopathty works is a mystery. Watch, as we witness a Vancouver group of skeptics (CFI) taking part in a group overdose of homeopathic remedies. Perhaps most disturbing we learn that some homeopaths are treating cancer patients with homeopathic remedies. A leading cancer specialist says there is no role for homeopathy in the treatment of cancer, that it is a "scam that is not evidence-based."

Malcolm X Rare Canadian CBC TV Show 1965 Part 2
He was revered. He was despised. Some saw him as a guardian of civil rights, a force of empowerment and self-respect for blacks in America. Others branded him a provocateur, a racial supremacist and a menace. His words, incisive and unforgiving had the capacity to unite -- and divide. A split from the Nation of Islam eventually tempered his tone as seen by this appearance on CBC's Front Page Challenge Jan. 5, 1965. Did you know? - Born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Neb., he eventually dropped his surname and replaced it with X, symbolizing the rejection of his "slave name." He said he chose "X" because, "To take one's 'X' is to take on a certain mystery, a certain possibility of power in the eyes of one's peers and one's enemies...The 'X' announced what you had been and what you had become: ex-smoker, ex-drinker, ex-Christian, ex-slave."
