Cathy Speck Sky-diving for ALS
Cathy Speck Sky-diving for ALS SkyDance SkyDiving is hosting an ALS awareness event Sunday, April 25 at noon at the Yolo County Airport. Davisite Cathy Speck, who has familial ALS, is inviting everyone to join her jumping or celebrating the jump to help raise awareness about ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig's disease. Speck is an advocate for the greater Sacramento area chapter of ALS (ALSSAC) and will be joined by ALSSAC staff as they celebrate life and continue educating the public about ALS. ALS is a progressive, terminal, neuromuscular disease and is among the most devastating disorders of our time. More people die every year of ALS than of Huntington's disease or multiple sclerosis and it occurs two-thirds as frequently as multiple sclerosis. Approximately 5600 people in the US are disgnosed with ALS each year. There is currently no cure or known cause for ALS. ALS awareness events such as this hope to help raise funds for financing further research. This will be the first time Speck will be skydiving, and she was offered this opportunity to jump by Maggie Williams, who had read an article that Speck had written about ALS. Williams, a seasoned skydiver, has over 1000 skydives, and was the first female civilian in the US to have made an extreme altitude jump from 30000 feet. SkyDance SkyDiving, located at 24390 Aviation Avenue, Davis, is a member of the US Parachute Association (USPA) that sets the guidelines and safety standards for skydiving, and ...

Keith Richards -- Cathy's Clown
Many years ago, on November 3, 1976, my 25th birthday, my good friend Alfred Lagarde, Hollands Nr 1 DJ of all times, invited me to a private party in the Amsterdam Hilton. To my surprise it was a party that not only included Herman Brood, a friend I knew from the Dutch blues band Cuby and the Blizzards, who were my mates in The Clown, a pub in Groningen, but also Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards, who I met 4 years before in Villa Nellcote in Villefranche, near Nice, where I lived with my girlfriend, a Dutch baroness, and where they recorded their Rolling Stones Album Exile On Main Str. To my surprise Keith sang a song for us, Cathy's Clown, which Alfred recorded for me. On July 11, 2001, almost 10 years ago, Herman took his life in the same place, by jumping from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton. Herman, this one's for you, Never seen, he was never heard, passing by like a sleepin'bird.
Cathy's Clown - Everly Brothers
Cathy's Clown -Everly Brothers. The Everly Brothers (Don and Phil, born Isaac Donald Everly, February 1, 1937, and Phillip Everly, January 19, 1939) are country-influenced rock and roll performers, known for steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing. The brothers are the most successful US rock and roll duo on the Hot 100. Their greatest period came between 1957 and 1965. Their first Cadence single, "Bye Bye Love", had been rejected by 30 other acts (including Elvis Presley), but the Everlys saw potential in the song. Their recording of "Bye Bye Love" reached #2 on the pop charts behind Presley's "Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear", hitting #1 on the Country and the R&B charts. The song, written by the husband and wife Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, became the Everly Brothers' first million-seller. By 1962, the Everly Brothers had earned $35 million dollars from record sales. They became stalwarts of the Cadence label. Working with the Bryants, the duo had hits in the United States and the United Kingdom, the biggest being "Wake Up Little Susie", "All I Have to Do Is Dream", "Bird Dog" and "Problems", all penned by the Bryants. The Everlys also found success as songwriters, especially with Don's "('Til) I Kissed You", which hit #4 on the US pop charts. The brothers toured extensively with Buddy Holly during 1957 and 1958. According to Holly biographer Philip Norman, they were responsible for the change in style for Holly and The Crickets from Levi's and T-shirts to the ...

Alfred Newman - Wuthering Heights (Cathy's Theme) 1939
Ahh... Penistone Crags and the smell of heather in your hair... Wuthering Heights is a 1939 American black-and-white film directed by William Wyler and produced by Samuel Goldwyn. It is based on the novel, Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The film depicts only sixteen of the novel's thirty-four chapters, eliminating the second generation of characters. The novel was adapted for the screen by Charles MacArthur, Ben Hecht and John Huston. The film won the 1939 New York Film Critics Award for Best Film. It earned nominations for eight Academy Awards, including for Best Picture and Best Actor. The 1939 Academy Award for Best Cinematography, black-and-white category, was awarded to Gregg Toland for his work. The novel of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë which was published in 1847, was her only novel and written between December 1845 and July 1846. It remained unpublished until July 1847 and was not printed until December after the success of her sister Charlotte Brontë's novel Jane Eyre. It was finally printed under the pseudonym Ellis Bell; a posthumous second edition was edited by Charlotte. The title of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors of the story. The narrative centres on the all-encompassing, passionate but doomed love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and many around them. Today considered a classic of English literature, Wuthering Heights was met with mixed reviews when it first ...

But using the most advanced brain-machine interface ever developed, she can steer a robotic arm towards a bottle, pick it up, and drink her morning coffee. Cathy Young - Maggie May
From Cathy Young's 1973 GRT Album "Travel Stained". Recorded in October, 1972 by the great George Semkiw at RCA Studios in downtown Toronto. The album was re-issued in 2009 by Big Pink Music in Korea (Big Pink 14). The Mellotron on this track was my Model 300 using the orchestral string section, and fed directly into the mixing console. After the session, we all adjourned over to the El Mocambo for a few drinks and since there wasn't much space, I ended up having one of the background vocals soul sisters sit on my lap. My girlfriend at the time happened to be at the bar, caught one look at me as I stood up & emptied a jug of beer in my general direction. I ducked, but the bouncer behind me got the entire contents smack in his face....... Good times!
