Cameraman Arrested by Suffolk County Police
This was the end of a police chase and the Sgt. doesn't want video coverage from a credentialed member of the press. The photog asks how far to move back but the sgt. says no you can't shoot it at all. Notice the road is open to traffic, there are people without a camera that are standing there and even some kids walk straight through the scene. The photog moves a block away and shoots from the next street over and that's when he's arrested and charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration....how can you obstruct from a block away.

US Cameraman has Proof 9/11 was a Lie
An American FEMA cameraman who says September 11 was a lie is facing extradition from Argentina to the United States on alleged murder charges. Kurt Sonnenfeld, a man who was provided provisory refugee status seven years ago, is now wanted by the US government on murder charges. He is the only cameraman that filmed crucial images of Ground Zero in New York after the Twin Towers collapsed. Sonnenfeld, who lives in Buenos Aires with his Argentine family, says the footage proves that 9/11 was a lie. He still has the 22-hour footage that US authorities want. "I have promised to give my footage to the big investigators that are credible and widely known - investigators who will be able to detect anomalies that I or other people without scientific education might miss. With that in mind, I hope that there are many things they can discover that disprove the current official story of what happened," Sonnenfeld told a Press TV correspondent. He says he fears for his life if he is sent back to the United States to face trial. The Denver police have claimed they have evidence that show he killed his first wife in the US. Social activists who are campaigning for Sonnenfeld to be given refugee status in Argentina say the Denver police are lying. The Sonnenfelds say they have been under police surveillance and that their phone has been tapped. Book 'em Danno: Klepto Manta Mugs Cameraman
What began as another exhilarating manta ray night dive off Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on an August evening in 2010, quickly turned into the theft of the century. Cameraman Travis Matteson was capturing footage for the scuba diving travel television show "Into the Drink" aboard the Kona Aggressor II. Suddenly, one of the manta's giant wings hooked his light system, and darted off with the nearly $10000 worth of photo gear. Underwater videographer Johnny Reidt caught the entire theft on camera, and the manta, carrying the stolen photo rig, captured some amazing footage of the nighttime reef. Remarkably, the camera rig was found completely intact after an eight-minute run by the manta, just yards from the dive boat. Case closed. Into the Drink: www.intothedrink.tv
Silverback Gorilla turns cameraman at Durrell
This week one of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust's most photographed primates turned the tables and became cameraman for the day. Ya Kwanza the conservation Trusts 27 year old silverback gorilla became adept at snapping close ups of himself with a high definition camera which was encased in an indestructible box and covered with tasty honey and oats. The fabulous footage shows the silverback investigating the device and meticulously picking out raisins with a surprisingly delicate touch, he then turns cameraman and takes a number of close ups and profile shots before peeling off the branding on the case, after realizing this didn't taste as good as the original flavoursome coating the inquisitive ape then happily returns the box to his keeper who was waiting on the outside of the enclosure. The idea came from one of the Jersey based charity's mammal keepers - Jon Stark, who having taken care of the critically endangered western lowland gorillas for four years wondered what it would be like to take a look at life from the primate's perspective. Commenting on the plan Stark said "The animals here at the wildlife park regularly receive enrichment treats which encourage them to forage for food much as they would in the wild and help to keep them mentally stimulated. In an attempt to really get up close and personal we decided to install a HD Camera in Ya Kwanza's daily 'enrichment device!"
Libyan crowd mourns Al Jazeera cameraman
Unidentified assailants opened fire on a van carrying Al Jazeera Arabic personnel on Saturday, killing 56-year-old cameraman Ali Hassan al-Jaber and wounding another man. The attack occurred at around 4:30 pm as the team was returning from filming an opposition protest outside of Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city. A crowd gathered in the city's main square to honor al-Jaber, a Qatari national. They waved Qatari flags and chanted slogans in support of Al Jazeera, such as "with our soul, our blood, we'll defend Al Jazeera."

Joe The Cameraman crashes Segway!
www.youtube.com REMEMBER 'Joe the Cameraman', the Channel 9 employee at the centre of the "Can't bowl, can't throw" saga in 1999? You know, the famous on-air sledge that was aimed at bowler Scott Muller and had Shane Warne fingered as the culprit, only for poor Joe Previtera to put his hand up and take the fall. Joe now drives a Segway during the summer's Cricket fixtures, but just after lunch on day two the man who brings such great pictures was himself the centre of attention. Joe was scooting across the MCG turf when his vehicle ran into keeper Brad Haddin's helmet - which was lying on the turf as players warmed up for the resumption of play - and he tumbled off. A little red-faced but otherwise unharmed, Joe had to be helped to his feet by Aussie skipper Michael Clarke and Shaun Marsh. Haddin was also nearby to ensure all Joe's equipment was intact. After dusting himself off and waving to the crowd, Joe was back on his bike and again homing in on the action.

NYPD Undercover COP Threatens Cameraman with Rape
On August 13th, NYPD attacked an art event held at a collective art space in bushwick, brooklyn as a participatory art party called 3D-13 was taking place. A number of people were arrested, most on charges of running an illegal social club. During the raid, police pepper sprayed different rooms filled with people, and subsequently harassed journalists filming outside the space; threatening one of the cameramen with arrest and subsequent rape in jail.

VIDEO: TV Cameraman Attacked, Hit with Stick
DAVDSON COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — A television cameraman was attacked Thursday afternoon while shooting video of alleged malnourished horses in Davidson County. WGHP received a news tip Wednesday regarding concerns over two horses owned by Danny Kirkus Sr. County Commissioner Cathy Dunn and a member of the US Equine Rescue League shared concerns over the welfare of a couple horses. Chris Weaver, a cameraman for WGHP-TV, was shooting video of the horses alongside a public road in Davidson County on Thursday when Kirkus Sr. approached him holding a large stick and a bucket of horse feed. Kirkus Sr. swung the stick at the cameraman twice, hitting him once on the lower leg. RAW VIDEO: Man Attacks News Cameraman The cameraman and a FOX8 reporter returned to the television truck where they were again approached by Kirkus Sr. The suspect again raised the stick at Weaver but did not swing. The cameraman was not seriously injured. The Davidson County Sheriff's Department arrested Kirkus and charged him with two felonies including assault with a deadly weapon. Sheriff David Grice said they have received several calls about the horses over the past year but said the treatment "does not rise to the level of abuse."

New Jersey Cop Assaults TV Cameraman
Videotaped on October 28, 2008 in Newark, NJ, CBS 2 News cameraman Jim Quodomine attempts to film a peaceful march taking place on the public property of the sidewalk outside of a church. It is being held by members of the community wishing to draw attention to young victims of violence in the community. Before he can get any footage, he is confronted by New Jersey special police officer Brian Shariff, who points in his direction and demands that he "put that camera away." While Jim attempts to ignore the illegal order and continues to record, the officer takes a step towards him, once again pointing at him and demanding that he "put the camera away." Now visibly agitated, Shariff takes another step towards Jim, yelling, "put the camera away!" Though he is only excercising his First Amendment right to Freedom of Press, officer Shariff advances on Jim immediately and violently attempts to snatch his camera. As Jim resists the illegal seizure of his property, a struggle ensues between himself and the officer, and the camera loses focus. At this point, officer Shariff can be heard yelling, "My man! my man! you heard what I just said, man!? now, you get the camera outta here right now!" Jim continues to resist, and can be heard telling the officer, "whoah! you get your hands off my camera!" This is followed by a clear shot of his legs, from the waist down, ackwardly running forward, apparently in the direction that the officer is attempting to pull his camera away from him ...

Reuters cameraman Fadel Shana, a 23-year-old Palestinian, was killed in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday while covering events in the enclave for the international news agency. He had been filming an Israeli tank dug in about 1000 yards (1 km) away. "Human Rights Watch's investigations at the site found evidence suggesting that an Israeli tank crew fired recklessly or deliberately at the journalist's team," the New York-based group Human Rights Watch said in a statement.
