Staffordshire Bull Terrier - The 'Real' Story
The SBT has been copping a bit of flack in the media, being targeted as dangerous and 'statisticaly' rating as one of the highest biters/attackers. The trouble is, how are these statistics gathered? Who decides the difference between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, An American Staffordshire Terrier, A Pit Bull, or any Cross Breeds for that matter? A recent article reported that an SBT was the offender, when in actual fact the picture they used for an example of the breed was an AmStaff... this highlights precisely that the media are pretty slap happy when preparing their articles and don't research these cases completely. They are looking for BIG headlines, and a quick blame solution.. Unfortunately it is ultimately the dogs that end up suffering. This video is not about shifting blame from one breed to the next, its about recognising that it is not the dog or the breed that are the problem, but the OWNERS. Afterall, who do the dogs learn from? We need to 're-educate' the public, our families, and even the media. Its about promoting "Responsible Ownership" - choosing the 'right' dog for your lifestyle, being dedicated to providing training and guidance, and learning how to be a strong leader. This program covered obedience commands to sit, stay, down, heel, come when called, and general etiquette like waiting at doors until released and no jumping up. A lot of people seriously don't know what an American Pit Bull Terrier is. Watch this video and you will understand the breed allot more. Most people that claim to own these dogs really don't. They own mixed bred dogs that are designed using the American Pit Bull Terrier. Allot of these crosses have American Bulldogs added in for size and strength and some even try adding Bullmastiffs! Both the American Bulldog and Bullmastiff are much larger and more powerful dogs then the American Pit Bull Terrier. That is one of the reasons they are used to produce the dog commonly seen today. Allot of these dogs end up in shelters. In reality, the true APBT is, in my opinion, one of the best dogs you can own, if you know how. Dogs are pack animals and you need to make sure you're the pack-leader without ever hitting or abusing your animals. You also need to make sure that you can handle a dominant breed. The true American Pit Bull Terrier is a small to medium sized dog that gets 15 - 21 inches at the shoulders and 22 - 65 pounds. Anything more then 70 pounds is obese and/or a mutt. Raw Diet Bull Terrier
My English Bull Terrier eating his normal chicken quarter in the morning. He's been on the raw diet for 2 years now. The benefits that I've seen from this are as follows: Acne disappeared completely. He had HORRIBLE acne before. Sores. Used to use creams and ointments and even vet recommended medicine. Nothing helped. Now its GONE!!! It disappeared after about 2 months after switching to all raw meat. Doesn't shed as much, and his coat is shiny. His teeth are clean on their own. His stool is 75% less than before. His breath doesn't smell. His toxic farts that would drive anyone out of the room are gone. His muscle increased as did his energy. NO supplements or vitamins. Only raw chicken, turkey, pork, beef...and an occasional banana as a treat. I feed him chicken hearts, gizzards once a week, and one day a week (Sunday) I don't feed him. I recommend that you do raw chicken at the start for about one month straight before introducing pork, beef, etc. Your dog needs time to adjust. After that, introduce the next meat once or twice a week. After two months you could switch it up however you like. My schedule goes like this: Monday Wednesday Friday (chicken quarters) Tuesday (chicken hearts/gizzards) Thursday (Beef Liver or shredded pork) Saturday (Chicken Quarter in the Morning and another in the late evening) Sunday (nothing) Also, I give him frozen chicken feet as a snack throughout the week. just got my cam , was bored . he's not a vicious guy going at the spring pole but a daily exercise we do in the morning b'4 walks and fetch routine. he just loves that ball w/ the handle so i put it on the spring pole. i do it for exercise, and dont abuse it and always supervise him. he an iside dog and and i attached it but when i came outside i said. go find your ball and thats when he was running off and looking back and then spotted it and took off at it.... This is just another way of exercise and entertainment. i dont abuse this and i supervise his use at all times. never left alone with it because it can cause problems if dog is overly obsessed with the action. if used correctly its great tool for exercise and working the neck, back, and leg muscles.
