Long Island firefighters tackle huge brush fire

Farmington, NM - Brush Fire
What was initially dispatched as a possible structure fire turned out to be a brush fire behind 3520 East Main Street. Engine 2 and Brush 2 accessed the fire from the end of East 22nd Street. Ladder 2 (running a reserve piece) provided scene lighting and manpower from the rear of the Best Buy store. This incident was the first chance to put my new video camera to work.

UH-60 BLACKHAWK FIGHTING BRUSH FIRE IN RAPID CITY, SD
3/9/2012 Soldiers from the SDARNG responded to a brush fire along Mallow Street, Rapid City, SD on March 9, 2012. They put out flames using a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter. They flew over the hillside dumping water over hot spots with a 600 gallon bucket. The pilots drew water from a city pond targeting hot spots to protect homes and businesses from the blaze.

Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue responded to a 14 acre brush fire @ East 6th Street & Hines Avenue at 1440 hours on 1-26-12. The fire threatened several homes and due to the efforts of the LAFD, none were damaged.

The other day Modesto News .org caught this awesome footage of the Modesto Fire Department at a brush fire off of Highway 99 near the Briggsmore overpass fighting a brush fire. This footage is a really great example of how to stop a fast moving brush fire right in it's tracks. The Modesto Fire Department was able to take immediate control over the fire by quickly cutting a firebreak and then dowsing the remaining fire with water. We went camping at Writing On Stone Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada and had one very exciting trip! We had to evacuate due to a brush fire that was growing quickly two sites away from us. This is part one of our camping trip. Part two will be uploaded tomorrow.

2 Early Morning Brush Fires Back-To-Back Near 2 Modesto Bridges - Modesto News
Early this morning just before 3 am a call came out to the Modesto Fire Department for reports of a brush fire rushing up the east side of the El Vista Ave. bridge in Modesto, California. Modesto Fire Station 3 which is within 200 yards of the bridge responded to the fire and was able to contain it within minutes. However, while the Station 3 crew was still mopping up that fire another brush fire was reported threatening the 9th Street bridge in downtown Modesto, California! The downtown Modesto Fire Station 1 responded with their Brush unit to find a brush fire about 400 yards away from the bridge on the east side. Station 2 was called to the scene to aid in the water supply and Brush 3, which is the brush unit from the same Station 3 which was at the other call was called in to aid in the cleanup. There were no injuries or damage to structures during these fires. Modesto News .org spoke with a Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief on the scene who assured us that altho it was unusual to have these fires come out so close together, the fires do not at all appear to be related. Crown I/C Brush Fire - LA County
The Crown Fire began in northern Los Angeles County (Palmdale) on July 29, 2010. The blaze has consumed almost 14000 acres and several structures. At the time of this writing the fire is 87% contained thanks to the efforts of over 1300 personnel on scene. Firefighting assets on this incident have included several helitankers, fixed-wing aircraft and the DC-10 and 747 supertankers. This video shows footage from day #2 of the fire.

High Winds Fuel A Large Brush Fire In Lake Station On 4-01-10
LSFD was dispatched to a reported brush fire on 37th Ave around 4pm after Hobart Battalion 3 advised of smoke showing in the area while Hobart crews battled a brush/trailer fire across the street. Crews arrived on scene to find a moderate sized brush fire that soon grew to a quite large brush fire. Additional crews were requested from Hobart and New Chicago along with Lake Station firehouse 1. Crews were on scene for well over an hour and nobody was injured
