Black Sabbath - Kiss of Death (HD)

Black Sabbath are a British rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (lead vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass guitar), and Bill Ward (drums). The band has since experienced multiple line-up changes, with Tony Iommi the only constant presence in the band through the years. A total of twenty-two musicians have at one time been members of Black Sabbath. Originally formed as a heavy blues-rock band named Earth, the band began incorporating occult- and horror-inspired lyrics with tuned-down guitars, changing their name to Black Sabbath and achieving multiple platinum records in the 1970s. Despite an association with occult and horror themes, Black Sabbath also composed songs dealing with social and political issues such as drugs and war. As one of the first and most influential heavy metal bands of all time, Black Sabbath helped define the genre with releases such as quadruple-platinum Paranoid, released in 1970. They were ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band" of all time, and placed second in VH1′s "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, behind Led Zeppelin. They have sold over 15 million records in the United States alone. Rolling Stone has posited the band as 'the heavy-metal kings of the '70s'. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne's drinking led to his being fired from the band in 1979. He was replaced by former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio. After a few albums with Dio's vocals and his ...

Driver's Seat - Sniff'n The Tears 1978

Sniff 'n' the Tears is a British rock band perhaps best known for their 1978 song "Driver's Seat", a hit in many countries (including #15 on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart). The exception was the UK itself where a problem with EMI's pressing plant meant that the single was not available following the band's appearance on Top of the Pops and it peaked just outside the Top 40. Sniff 'n' The Tears are led by singer/songwriter Paul Roberts, the band's sole constant member. Roberts, a noted painter, is also responsible for painting all of the band's album covers. An early version of Sniff 'n' The Tears had been gigging in England as "Ashes of Moon" as early as 1973. They were unable to land a record deal, and the band's singer/songwriter Paul Roberts decided to dissolve the group and move to France. A few years later, Ashes' drummer Luigi Salvoni listened to some demos that Roberts had cut in about 1975. Hearing commercial potential in them, he contacted Roberts about reforming their musical partnership. Sniff 'n' The Tears subsequently debuted in 1977 as a six piece band, consisting of Paul Roberts (vocals, acoustic guitar), Loz Netto (guitars), Mick Dyche (guitars), Chris Birkin (bass), Alan Fealdman (keyboards), and Luigi Salvoni (drums & percussion). This line-up recorded the band's first album, Fickle Heart, which was produced by Salvoni. Though recorded in 1978, the album sat unreleased for over a year until being picked up by Chiswick Records. The band then had a ...

The Beatles- This Boy

"This Boy" is a song by British rock band The Beatles composed by John Lennon, and was first released in November 1963 as the B-side of the UK Parlophone single "I Want to Hold Your Hand". The Beatles performed it live on 16 February 1964 for their second Ed Sullivan Show appearance in the USA. It also appears as the third track on side one of US release, Meet the Beatles!. Contents Its composition was an attempt by John Lennon at writing a song in the style of Motown star Smokey Robinson, specifically his song "I've Been Good To You", which has similar circular doo-wop chord changes, melody and arrangement, and Paul McCartney cites The Teddy Bears 1959 hit To Know Him Is To Love Him as also being influential. Lennon, McCartney, and George Harrison join together to sing an intricate three-part close harmony in the verses and refrain (originally the middle eight was conceived as a guitar solo, but altered during the recording process) and a similar song writing technique is exercised in later Beatles songs, such as "Yes It Is" and "Because" (which, interestingly, are among the few Beatles songs which also feature three-part harmonies). An instrumental version of "This Boy", orchestrated by George Martin, is used as the incidental music during Ringo Starr's towpath scene in the film A Hard Day's Night. The piece, under the title, "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)" was released as a single - but failed to chart in the UK - on 7 August 1964 with And I Love Her on the B Side, although ...

Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure

Maximo Park have taken the world by storm and proven themselves as one of the last truly original acts to make it through the closing door of the new wave of young British rock acts. Their debut full-length A Certain Trigger launched a wave of frenzy in the UK that began with and endless string of sold-out shows and emphatic praise from rock bible NME and has recently ascended even further with record sales landing the band a Gold Record for the album, appearances on the legendary Top Of The Pops television program and a headlining spot on this year's NME Awards Tour alongside upstarts Artic Monkeys. This puts Maximo Park in good company with past NME Tour headliners Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs. In addition to their superstar status in the UK, Maximo Park have made a great impression on US shores having seen praise from MTV and Rolling Stone as well as Andy Warhol's Interview and a tour with modern-rock darlings The Bravery.

History of Psychedelic Rock 迷幻樂的歷史Part 1 (中文字幕)

stanley5.blogspot.com 史丹利五提供History of Psychedelic Rock 迷幻樂的歷史Part 1 7 Parts total 中文字幕Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that attempts to replicate the mind-altering experiences of hallucinogenic drugs. It emerged during the mid 1960s among garage and folk rock bands in Britain and the United States. Psychedelic rock is a bridge from early blues-based rock to progressive rock and heavy metal, but it also drew on non-Western sources such as Indian music's rāgas and sitars. While the first contemporary musicians to be influenced by psychedelic drugs were in the jazz and folk scenes, the first use of the term "psychedelic" in popular music was by the "acid-folk" group The Holy Modal Rounders in 1964, with the song "Hesitation Blues."[citation needed] The first use of the word "psychedelic" in a rock music context is usually credited to The Deep, and the earliest known appearance of this usage of the word in print is in the title of their 1966 album The Psychedelic Moods of the Deep. Roky Erickson, lead singer of The 13th Floor Elevators, coined the term 'psychedelic rock' in a 1966 interview. In 1962, British rock embarked on a frenetic race of ideas that spread back to the US with the British Invasion. The folk music scene also experimented with outside influences. In the tradition of Jazz and blues many musicians began to take drugs, and include drug references in their songs. Beat Generation writers like William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Allen ...

The Kills - "Satellite": SXSW 2011 Showcasing Artist

The Kills are an alternative rock duo formed by American vocalist Alison "VV" Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie "Hotel" Hince that rose to public recognition at the dawn of the hype surrounding the genre explosion of the early 2000s. Mosshart had been in the Florida punk band Discount and Hince in British rock band Scarfo. When these groups disbanded, the duo, who first met when Mosshart heard Hince practicing in the hotel room above hers, struck up a songwriting partnership. For months, the pair air mailed work tapes across the Atlantic; after this proved to test the patience of both artists, as it took days or weeks to get each others tapes, Mosshart upped sticks from her Florida home to fly to London. Wanting to cut themselves off from their pasts, Mosshart and Hince considered their new project to be Year Zero in their careers, so they renamed themselves "VV" and "Hotel" respectively and began writing sparse, minimalist songs together with the aid of a drum machine. In 2001 they showcased their new songs on a well received demo tape. In true punk rock fashion, however, the pair shunned approaches from major record labels. Recording as VV and Hotel, they contributed the song "Restaurant Blouse" to the compilation If the Twenty-First Century Did Not Exist, It Would Be Necessary to Invent It. Shortly after this they recorded their debut release, the Black Rooster EP, which saw release on British indie label Domino Records and was picked up for distribution by Dim Mak ...

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen FULL HD

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. The song has no chorus, instead consisting of three main parts: a ballad segment ending with a guitar solo, an operatic passage, and a heavy rock section. When it was released as a single, "Bohemian Rhapsody" became a huge commercial success, staying at the top of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and selling more than a million copies by the end of January 1976.[1] It reached number one again in 1991 for five weeks following Mercury's death, eventually becoming the UK's third best selling single of all time.[2] It topped the charts in several other markets as well, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and The Netherlands. In the United States the song originally peaked at number nine in 1976; however, it returned to the chart at number two in 1992 following its appearance in the film Wayne's World revived its American popularity. The single was accompanied by a promotional video, considered ground-breaking.[3] Although critical reaction was initially mixed, particularly in the United States, "Bohemian Rhapsody" remains one of Queen's most popular songs. Rolling Stone ranked it as the number 163 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".

SHINDIG! - Soul [2of3]

SHINDIG! (Soul Compilation) - part 2of3 --Major Lance - "Monkey Time" --Joe Tex - "Hold What You've Got" --Tina Turner - "Money" Marvin Gaye - " I'll Be Doggone" ----------------------------------------- Shindig! was a rock 'n' roll series that ran from September 16, 1964 through January 8, 1966 on the ABC network. Shindig! was created and produced by Jack Good who had previously produced rock 'n' roll TV shows in his native Britain. There, he perfected his style of fast-paced rock music programing. In 1962, Good produced a pilot for American TV. The pilot, titled "Young America Swings the World," eventually became the blueprint for Shindig! Most of the top American and British rock/pop acts of the mid-1960s appeared on Shindig!. The British performers often appeared in segments taped in the UK Shindig! was different from previous US rock 'n' roll programs. It featured non-stop music that, in most cases, was only interrupted by the commercial breaks. Shindig! started a trend in television which could probably best be described as "rock 'n' roll...with go-go dancers."

AD/BC: A Rock Opera (part 2/3)

An outstanding accomplishment in late '70s British religious rock opera, this lavishly produced adaptation of Tim Wynde and Solomon Homerton's 'fringe stage sensation' celebrates the life-affirming story of Christ's nativity as told through the eyes of the Innkeeper (played by Wynde). Joined by the cream of rock (Roger Kingsman - The Purple Explosion), folk (Maria Preston Bush), expressionist dance (CT Homerton) and professional wrestling (Kaplin Choice), Solomon and Wynde's AD/BC features such classic songs as 'Spreading Holy Light (Part 2)', 'Joseph Arrives', and the 'Telephone Call of Ruth (To Tony)'. Wynde's 'sweeping score' and Solomon's 'lively lyrics' combine to make a 'startling'-ly fresh take on this universal story of love, faith and hotel management.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Live at Rock Montreal, 1981) [HD]

Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971, and one of the most commercially successful musical acts of all time. The group originally consisted of Freddie Mercury, (lead vocals), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Queen's initial works were chiefly glam rock, heavy metal and progressive rock orientated, however with time the band incorporated diverse and innovative styles in their music, exploring the likes of vaudeville, electronic music and funk. The band digressed from using progressive themes in their music in the mid-1970s, with more conventional and radio-friendly works bringing them greater success. Throughout the 1970s, Queen disclosed the absence of synthesisers on their albums, yet their style continued to evolve. They eventually started using synthesisers in the 1980s, reflecting their experimental approach to music. "Bohemian Rhapsody" it was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is in the style of a stream-of-consciousness nightmare that has an unusual song structure, more akin to a classical rhapsody than popular music. The song has no chorus, instead consisting of three main parts including a ballad segment, an operatic passage, and a heavy rock solo. Because of its ambiguous style and arrangement, the song is rarely classified by the band or critics under a particular genre of music, however when done so it is usually described ...
