The actor that played funboy (Michael Massee) had a gun with a defective blank (or somehow a bullet fragment was lodged into it) and shot and killed Brandon. Since it seemed everything happened the way it was supposed to (blood squibs), Brandon lay bleeding to death for minutes until someone realized that he had been injured for real. the footage was destroyed. that is it.
