ODI TOP END RUN BMW CAR CLUB & RGMOTORSPORT SATURDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2011 The day started off for the RGM team at 5.30am at our premises in Randburg. By 6.30 we were on our way to ODI, excited at the prospect of a great day of shake downs. Apart from a garage stop and Rob being stopped by the Pretoria Metro, not once but twice, we arrived at ODI ready for what would turn out to be a great day of racing, sun, wind and some awesome times set in our BMW's as well those of our clients. The days event was 1km and 400m runs , and some of the competitors only did part of the event , one or the other, which theoretically should not of qualify them for the full day event. Be that as it may, RGM will ensure that the next event we sponsor, everyone is well aware and it is very clear that you need to take part in both sections of the event, and in this case would need to do at least a minimum of two 1km runs and two 400m runs. If you have a look at the official results on the BMW Car Club website or you were there you will notice that most of the cars that set up fantastic top speeds for the day did not take part in the 400m, some due to engine failure and being removed from the circuit on a trailer and others not built to shape on the 400m.RGM alongside with all the competitors that did both the 1km and the 400m ideally know where you guys came for the day. Compared to the production model, the Lead NISMO RC (for Racing Competition), does away with the rear doors, rear seat, trunk, audio system, navigation, carpeting and other amenities, while gaining a mid-ship location for the battery pack, electric motor and inverter. Vw Golf RSI Dahlback in a circuit!!! GOLF RSI SPECIFICATION: From interview with HANS DAHLBACK dahlbackracing owner: Yes, the infamous Golf may be able to put out 1200 horsepower. Possibly. The story that comes from Hans Dahlback, the owner of Dahlback Racing and the mastermind behind these insane cars, is that the car, when running on a dyno that bolts to the hubs, produced well over 850 hp to the wheels at around 8000 rpm before the dyno started reading errors--and the car revs to upward of 11000 rpm. Using a 15 percent drivetrain-loss calculation, at 8000 rpm the car was over 1000 flywheel horsepower. I'm making an educated guess that the car produced another few ponies in the 3000 rpm that followed. Considering Dahlback claims the motor pulls strong until just under 11000 rpm--with the power increasing dramatically in the last couple thousand rpm--it's reasonable to assume, considering the extent the motor's power curve was climbing at the point the dyno stopped reading, that the car would have likely gained another 100 or 200 horses in the remaining available revs. You also have to keep in mind that Dahlback massively underpromises any horsepower claim. I was told by various people at Dahlback's shop that the Golf was producing significantly more than 850 wheel horsepower on the dyno, but Dahlback would only confirm 850-plus hp, and thus that is what I worked my calculations from. And yes, the car shoots flames out the side exit exhaust during deceleration. It was ...
