Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti claimed victory for the fourth time at the fifth annual La Costeña "Feel the Heat" Jalapeño Eating Championship Challenge. Bertoletti, currently the second world ranked competitive eater ate 275 whole jalapeños in eight minutes. Bertoletti shattered his 2010 record of 225 jalapeños to his current 2011 record of 275 jalapeños. Thomas placed second by consuming 224 jalapeños, Eric "The Red" Denmark placed third by eating 121 jalapeños, and San Antonio local Alexander Hernandez ranked fourth, having eaten 113 jalapeños.

At last years La Costena Feel the Heat Jalapeno Eating Championship Challenge there was high drama as Sonya The Black Widow Thomas stole the title from Pat Bertoletti following a one minute eat off after the pair tied in the main event. Thomas managed to down 250.5 hot peppers, to Bertolettis 240. This year Bertoletti was determined to win back his title, and it was another very tight match as Bertoletti set a new world record for jalapeno pepper consumption. At the end of the ten minute event Sonya Thomas had swallowed an amazing 274 whole pickled jalapenos, but the number one female competitive eater in the world was pipped at the post by Bertoletti who managed to stuff his cakehole with 275 peppers! A new world record! Bertoletti explained how he prepared for the event, which has quite a burning effect on its competitors. My natural capacity is very high, but I go the extra mile to coat my stomach beforehand. I try to front load with a neutralizer — a lot of Pepto, and milk and milkshakes to set the stage stomach for the acidity thats coming. The mohawked champ walked away with $2700 in prize money and a new world record.

La nuova sfida del sindacato: contrattazione sociale territoriale delle condizioni di vita e di lavoro delle persone e delle famiglie. E' questo il tema di un interessante convegno che la Cgil di Cremona ha organizzato lo scorso 28 settembre 2011 che ha messo a confronto uomini e donne del sindacato e studiosi delle problematiche sociali fornendo una lettura nuova e molto interessante della attuale fase sociale e politica. La Cgil ha infatti posto le seguenti cinque domande: 1.)E' possibile, di fronte alla crisi economica, rispondere costruendo un sistema coerente di interventi che vada oltre il mero supporto economico alle difficoltà,dalla ricerca del lavoro alla riqualificazione,alla ristrutturazione delle proprie reti dopo la perdita del lavoro,ri-componendo gli interventi contro la parcellizzazione? 2.)E' possibile intercettare i disagi,le criticità inerenti diritti e le relazioni,nei luoghi di lavoro e nell'ambito sociale,per trasformarli in rivendicazioni con l'obiettivo di aumentare il benessere individuale e sociale in ogni ambito? 3.)Sono le persone, con le loro idee,il loro lavoro,le loro azioni sociali,il vero motore di un possibile sviluppo del territorio. Come costruire una piattaforma sociale territoriale che tenga in connessione la contrattazione aziendale,quella sociale e quella territoriale, mantenendo al primo posto l'attenzione alla valorizzazione delle persone? 4.)Quale ruolo ...
