HOME MADE TUBE BENDER
****READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING***** (You probably won't, but anyway....) Home made tube bender made from a couple of belt pulleys and scrap steel. Doesn't look like much but works just fine. Build cost $10. I didn't NEED to make this tube bender. I didn't NEED to bend tube. I saw a video of a home made tube bender and thought I'd make one just for the sake of it, It will only bend aluminium tubing. It won't do large diameter tubing. You can buy proper tube benders cheap. This was just a bit of fun. I have only bent 2 pieces of tubing so far using this contraption. The one shown in the video and one before that. Hope that helps.

JD2 Model 32 Tube and Pipe Bender
The Model 32 tube and pipe bender is the latest design by JD Squared. Essentially a super heavy duty version of the original Model 3, this machine makes bending extremely heavy wall material possible. The JD2 Model 32 can bend from 1/2" to 2" x .120" wall tubing manually with little effort because of the compound leverage from the ratcheting arm and can be upgraded to hydraulic power at any time. With hydraulics the machine is capable of bending up to 2.5" OD material, including 2" .250" wall DOM. (For manual operation the Model 32 must be solidly attached to a fixture such as our Floor Pedestal). The Model 32 bender is CNC machined from high strength cold rolled steel and holds up to daily use much better than look-alike benders. The die sets are equipped with replaceable alloy blocks which eliminate galling of steel tubing. Standard on every Model 32 is the die locking mechanism. As the die rotates while bending the drive holes in the forming die pass under the lock pin. When the drive hole is below the lock pin, it drops into the drive hole and when pressure is removed from the bender the die's rotation is locked at that position. When bending resumes the ramp machined into the lock pin will automatically lift the pin out of the drive hole. This mechanism combined with the included anti-springback ratchet allows the Model 32 to better bend thin wall tubing as well as the heavier sizes of tubing such as 2" od x .250" wall DOM tubing.The Model 32 excellent bend quality ...

Thanks I wanted to make a metal bender to allow for smooth, long arcs in metal up to 2" square light wall tubing. I pieced this one together using a 20 ton hydraulic jack (yes, the jack is overkill). The video only shows a few runs through the bender. I have yet to experiment with how much tension I can put on the steel for each pass. The bend comes out great, the steel stretches and compresses very nicely leaving a very clean bend.
