Chen Case Exposes Beijing's 'Blind Eye' to Rule of Law

Beijing Travel Tips - Great Wall of China Badaling - Lauren In Asia

The Great Wall of China is a must-see and we saw it from Badaling. However - no one tells you that there is something YOU SHOULDN"T WEAR on your visit! Plus, it's easy to get some great pictures despite the crowds.... IF you follow my tips. Why was I frustrated travel to the Great Wall at Badaling? Because it took a long time for us to (1) Walk to the subway station (2) Transfer and get to our destination subway station where we then had to (3) get slightly lost trying to find the bus station before (4) finally finding the station and getting in line for what we hoped was the right bus and then (5) riding the bus to the Badaling Great Wall area after a girl beside us vomited because of motion sickness and then (6) walking for 15 minutes to get to the actual village/town at the base of the Wall and (7) finally finding the cable car to ride up to the wall so we didn't exhaust ourselves before ever getting to a good view point. However, it was still worth it! www.LaurenInAsia.com www.LaurenBercarich.com Lauren Bercarich

Olympic song "Beijing Welcomes You" (subbed)

Theme song for the 100-day countdown celebration of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, music by Xiao Ke and original lyrics by Lam Jik (Hong Kong). 'Beijing will not tolerate US pressure on Syria'

Crisis-locked Syria finds itself caught between two very different diplomatic efforts. As the US and its allies pile pressure on the government, Russia and China are trying to mediate a negotiated solution. One of Beijing's top diplomats is in Damascus for talks, calling on all sides to halt the violence, and work out a peace deal. The Chinese effort follows up on months of attempts by Moscow to bring the warring sides together. But the rebels refuse to negotiate, unless Assad gives up power. Violence is escalating almost daily now, with dozens reportedly killed over the past 24 hours. Political science professor Joseph Cheng says US dominance in the region is forcing some world powers onto the defensive. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Protest Disrupts World Bank News Conference in Beijing

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me A press conference held by the World Bank in Beijing was interrupted when a protester jumped at the podium, seizing the opportunity to speak out against the multilateral lender. The protest comes after a World Bank report on China's economy was released this week. A protester disrupted a World Bank news conference in Beijing on Tuesday. He claims the multilateral lender's new report on China's economic future was "poison" and it would not bring benefits to the country. Du Jianguo, describing himself as a self-taught independent researcher, jumped up to the podium during Tuesday's news conference... declaring his views seconds after World Bank chief Robert Zoellick began speaking. [Du Jianguo, Protester]: "They (World Bank) nevertheless sell the plan to China, suggesting Chinese banks learn from the US and learn from Wall Street. Do they want Chinese banks to become cheaters and parasites just like those American banks? Chinese state-owned enterprises are now very powerful and therefore become competitors of the Western countries. You (World Bank) suggest dividing the state-owned enterprises, this is in fact helping the American and other Western enterprises ruin their competitors." In face of Du's criticism, Zoellick insisted in the World Bank's stance upon the launch of the report on China's financial future. [Robert Zoellick, World Bank President]: "I think ...

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton left Beijing on Saturday afternoon after tumultuous negotiations with China over the blind rights activist Chen Guangcheng, who plans to travel to the United States under a deal to end the standoff. Despite speculation that Chen might fly out on the same plane as Clinton—who is heading to Bangladesh and then India—the 40-year-old activist remains in a Beijing hospital, after a dramatic escape from 19 months under house arrest in his home village. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Chen could apply to study abroad following his dramatic appeal to a US congressional hearing on his case, when he asked to be allowed to spend time in the United States. But rights activists sounded a note of caution, saying Beijing could move slowly on granting Chen permission to leave, for fear that appearing soft might embolden other challengers before a power handover later this year. Security was tight at the local Beijing hospital on Saturday where Chen is believed to be staying.

Allen Iverson Highlight vs Stephon Marbury Beijing Shougang *US Legend China Tour Wuxi Game

Former NBA stars Allen Iverson and Dennis Rodman were in Cixi, Zhejiang earlier this week to scrimmage against the Beijing Ducks, which still has (the newly minted) Stephon Marbury, as part of an eight-game, multi-team tour. One Beijing player said it was a dream to play against AI. Ducks coach Min Lulei, however, had no use for such sentiment. He chided his team in the post-game press conference for not taking the opening game seriously enough, which strikes me as just silly — the Ducks are a month removed from winning the CBA championship, and they haven't practiced together since. The American team won Game 1 121-104 on Saturday (Iverson scored 11 points), and won Game 2 128-125 on Monday (Iverson did a little better, with 13 points to Marbury's 22). AI will have to do a little better than that if he wants to raise his stock among Chinese teams. As you've no doubt heard by now, he says he's interested in the CBA, replying "why not?" to the question of playing here. Putting up a combined 24 points against star-crossed opponents should make CBA team officials ask: Why?

Beijing Metro (Everybody is Kung-fu Fighting!)

Beijing Metro. Rush hour. You figure out the rest... There was a technical difficulty on the track ahead, and the delay resulted in a huge buildup of people. When a train finally arrived 20 minutes late, it was a zoo. Homo Sapiens is an easily agitated species...

Welcome to Beijing DVD (High Light)

Beijing literally means "Northern capital". Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is the nation's political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as China's most important center for international trade and communications. The city covers an area of more than 16410 square kilometers and has a population of 14.93 million people. Beijing's long and illustrious history started some 500000 years ago. It is here that the ancestors of modern Homo sapiens, Peking men, lived in caves. Records show that Beijing has been an inhabited city for more than three thousand years and has endured invasions by warlords and foreign powers, devastating fires, the rise and fall of powerful imperial dynasties and has emerged each time as a strong and vibrant city. For more than 800 years, Beijing was a capital city - from the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming and Qing dynasties. Thirty-four emperors have lived and ruled the nation in Beijing and it has been an important trading city from its earliest days. Although now Beijing is a modern and fashionable city complete with a full 21st Century vitality, you can experience authentic Beijing life and become acquainted with 'old Beijing' by exploring its many teahouses, temple fairs, Beijing's Hutong and Courtyard and enjoy the Peking Opera. Add any or all of these to your Beijing tour and you will leave with a feeling of special appreciation in your heart for this ancient city that has truly seen it all and tells its story ...

UFO 2012 2nd Beijing China Sighting 1/6/2012 from same building in 1 week

This 2nd UFO (1st sighting link: www.youtube.com was captured on Film by Li Xiu Ying less than one week after he captured a UFO on the first day of January 2012. He nervously struggled to focus on the object the best he could, but it it was just too smoggy and the windows were disgustingly filthy in Beijing, China. He states he was very spooked by this second sighting. Seeing something once is frightening enough, but the second time got to him. He states there were two objects hovering over the city that were round in shape. One was smaller than the other, but a third arrived, which was smaller in size. After trying several times to focus on the object, he gave up because it was just too polluted. The object disappeared just as fast as they appeared.

Limits to Beijing's bullying by Fareed Zakaria, CNN

Limits to Beijing's bullying By Fareed Zakaria, CNN March 30th, 2012 In the playground of foreign affairs, you would think that size matters. The biggest bully always wins. This is often true, but I found it interesting to track the story of one relationship where size and clout simply didn't matter. The big country in question is China. But I'm going to keep the little country a secret for now. Because first, look at how China typically dominates smaller countries. Take the example of tiny Nepal. It lies sandwiched between two bigger powers - India and China. While China is the world's second largest economy and India ranks 10th, Nepal is not even in the top 100. So it often has to bow to the demands of its bigger, more powerful friends. While India has traditionally had more influence, that power is now switching to China. Beijing has doubled aid to Nepal. It's building roads there and a railway linking the two countries. But obviously, China wants something in return. And it seems to be getting it. For the last two decades, thousands of Tibetans have escaped to Nepal every year, often heading onwards to India. That number has now dropped sharply, to just a few hundred. As China tries to cement its control over Tibet, it's getting help from Nepal policing the border and stopping Tibetans from escaping. That's just one example. China's influence stretches far and wide. When I look around the world, I see how it uses its growing economic clout to influence policies, even ...

Huge Bubble Cloud over Beijing Skies Mystifies Observers

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Follow us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com And finally... it was quite a sight over the skies of Beijing Thursday. A mysterious bubble cloud of sorts caught the attention of many in the city. The seemingly unique phenomenon has become somewhat of a hit on the Internet. Photos were posted online of a mysteriously huge bubble cloud over the skies of Beijing and surrounding areas Thursday, which raised concerns and discussions among netizens. "At first, it's relatively small and bright, the upper part is something like a semi-circle, a spherical ring of light, it's obviously becoming bigger and bigger then." When the observation team set their instruments at the bubble, it gradually became bigger and thinner. The entire occurrence lasted for less than 15 minutes. Observers took pictures of the whole process and posted them online. Staff members at the Beijing Planetarium believe it was the same phenomenon after an analysis of time and space. "Of course people had a lot of discussions, personally I think it's a kind of meteor or a phenomenon in terrestrial space." Experts say the bubble cloud was unlikely a natural phenomenon. Judging from the pictures, the bubble cloud was hundreds of miles away from observers in Beijing. [Zhu Jin, Curator, Beijing Planetarium]: "It must have been caused by human beings, not nature or other things like that." In less than one day more than 100 comments were posted about the ...
