The human grace, vulnerability and beauty are set in contrast to the rough and lumbering character of a machine. Cautious contact and desire raise expecations. This film is the result of a student team-project at the University of Applied Science Ansbach Germany. The dancer was filmed at a real Location. The robot however is a pure 3D Computeranimation. The challenge of this in full-HD produced project was to create a believable combination of original footage and CG elements. Important steps were the matchmoving of the original camera moves, the robot animation, the complex colorcorrecions as well as realistic and efficient rendering and compositing. Hagfish predatory behaviour and slime defence mechanism
Hagfishes (Myxinidae) are a family of jawless marine pre-vertebrates. Those video images taken in New Zealand revealed that hagfishes are able to choke their would-be predators with gill-clogging slime.It also shows that hagfishes are actively preying on other fish in New Zealand waters. The members of an ant colony are capable of a wide variety of complex behaviors: finding and transporting food, constructing elaborate underground complexes of tunnels and chambers, defending their territory from invaders. Such activity would seem to involve a great deal of planning, memory, and coordination. But there is no head ant who draws up a blueprint for the colony and gives directions to the worker ants. Instead, each ant follows a very simple set of rules, based on cues from its environment and from the activity of ants nearby. For example... how do ants know to walk in a single file to pick up food, and then return in single file to the nest? They dont. They know three simple rules. First, if you come upon something that smells like food - pick it up! Second, when you pick up a piece of food, release a chemical signal... a pheromone. Third, if you come across a pheromone trail left by another ant... follow it! There is no plan, no memory, no need for a leader to point the way. Three simple rules and a few environmental clues are all that is needed to orchestrate this remarkably efficient process. ROBOTS The enormous complexity of living things ...

Outside Barrow Island Sunday June 26 2011 @ 0830 Noted wave going against swell, seas and current.(tide) No vessel passed by to cause the wave To our starboard (your right) there is a breakwater just out of the picture so no vessel can travel past us from port to starboard. This is inside the barrow harbour limits which is inside an A class marine reserve, all travel is restricted to 4kn only ! Vessel movement is strictly controlled by the Barrow Island Port Control As stated before no vessel did or was allowed to pass before us. No ground movement noted but we would feel ground movement in a vessel. Island ahead of us prevents any wave from having a long fetch Wave continued off in a SE flow toward mainland Appears to be a natural phenomenon of unknown cause Any Ideas?

Jack Dempseys Mating Behaviour A Lot Like Bluegills
View Jack Dempseys building their nest, chasing away other fish, and preparing to mate. This video was taken several years ago with a first generation 3 mega pixel digital camera with just the existing lighting in the aquarium. There is no sound. The Jack Dempsey is a type of cichlid fish and their spawning is just like the Bluegills you may be fishing for. Pretty similar to Smallmouth Bass too by the looks of it.
