This closedown you may have seen before (when AidanLunn snatched it from me at the MHP Private Parts), but it's at High Quality this time. Anyway on this cold looking evening BBC1 Closes down at 11.55pm after a late scheduled edition of Match Of The Day, followed by a programme menu, the Weather, a PIF and Richard Straker wising us a very goodnight. This is probably one of the last pre-Midnight closedowns, they were rare during the 1990's.

This video answers my critics even here on You Tube. My original "ENYA" effort was just a tester. This video is the BBC testcard with ORIGINAL big band style testcard music. I have even animated the BBC 1 station clock, just to give the whole thing a particularly true-to-life feel. So enjoy. Especially all you folks that really REALLY miss the testcards of yesteryear!. A BBC 2 version is now in the pipeline! Bet you can't wait!

I couldn't upload the whole news bulletin due to the tape being so badly damaged and to be honest I don't think I could stomach watching the whole thing. This is of course the day Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were found guilty of murdering 2 year old James Bulger, making them the youngest convicted murderers in British history. I remember that day very clearly as I was only a couple of years older than them at the time and thinking, this isn't the result of kids watching horror movies!

BBC 1 analogue uhf ch 46 from sutton coldfield closed for good at 01:52 21/09/11 on the second stage of DSO/ATO. Sutton coldfield is now all digital. On the first half of the video is the trailers and unusual announcement for the analogue close at 11:35,The second half is the final closedown at 00:52 also unusual is it switch off mid program. I used a triax 92 15db amplifier and sutton coldfield is 72 miles from my location.

My very first attempt at recreating a memory of how TV viewing was back in the early part of the 80's. No annoying trailers, lasting the best part of 5 minutes, but straight into the next scheduled event. In this case, we have the end of children's lunchtime programme, Mr. Benn. Then, a caption to remind what's on at the same time tomorrow before, as was generally the case in the afternoons, the test card. This is not meant to be entirely accurate!
