Bad drivers and other incidentals caught on my dash cam while at work in late May through June. All these are in various parts of the San Francisco Bay area. The music just the local oldies station. In the fast lane of music there are good songs and a few crappy ones.

This old man had already overtaken me while i was sitting at the lights waiting for the grab lorry to finish, but the worst bit is he has honestly already taken 8mins to reverse back as far as he is!!

Everywhere I drive I witness careless, thoughtless behaviour behind the wheel, so I fixed a camera to the dashboard of my car and started filming. This is just the highlights of one weeks footage. Narration: You would think that the more experienced you become as a driver; the better you become at it, and while some continue to progress in their safety and common sense, others become much worse with their skills because they arent paying enough attention. No one can pass their driving test without first being able to park, but this skill as quickly goes out of the window if ignored thereafter. The Mini on the right here has been left at the owners convenience, but without a thought for bus and delivery drivers who have access the high street. This is such a popular way to display arrogance that a Vauxhall driver has done the same thing. Here in Church Crookham during rush hour, the traffic is already heavy, but this queue is only here because of somebodys bad parking where rather than putting their car somewhere that isnt in the way, theyve chosen to save themselves a few seconds of walking time, while cost the rest of these motorists collectively an hour of extra journey time. Take a look at this for classic parking, while this Peugeot isnt in the way until a tanker arrives, this is a supermarket where there is hundreds of actual spaces to choose from. For clarification, I made this as a freshman in high school and it was my first documentary. I do not claim it to be my best work or the most insightful work, but take what you can from it. We can probably agree that most people shouldn't be allowed to drive based on their inconsiderate antics. Thank you, and enjoy the film. I find Youtube a very interesting thing...last Thursday, I went out to get gas. The gas tank was filling up, and because it takes so long, I pulled out my smartphone and checked my Youtube inbox (lol it tells me inbox isn't spelled right). To my slightly alarming discovery I had about 20 new comments and ten new subscribers since I last checked it earlier that day. Apparently, my videos 17 and 18 suddenly jumped up in views. I got home, logged into Youtube to upload a couple clips, and noticed another 5 new comments and 5 new subscribers (in literally 5 minutes). All night long, new subscribers and comments. I gained 30 subscribers in 3 days....so now I have 215. Interesting... I am no able to drive my friends! After 6 months of driving, you are allowed to drive people other than family, so now I drive two people to school every morning. You can hear other people in pretty much all the clips. I apologize for the swearing...but it's high school. Anyway, I also am trying something a bit new this week. For the clips I took out at the last second, I added them to an unlisted video. You can watch if you want or not. The clips in there didn't quite make the bad drivers video cut, so you can assume they aren't quite as good (in my opinion). In there is a red light runner, two stop sign runners, and...can't remember the last one. If you think I should have added them to the bad driver videos, let me know. Good lord! I upload individual clips and then compile them using Youtube's video editor. So, earlier, while I was uploading the individual clips, I got annoyed by Youtube's new uploader and went back to the old one. I did this because trying to hit the private button (so none of you see my "rough draft" of the bad driver videos) for 50 seperate videos is quite difficult. I figured the old uploader would make this tedious task easier. I was actually right about this - or so I thought. It turns out you have to hit the'save changes' button for each video (something I did not do), otherwise thhe changes do not go into effect. This is different from the new one which automatically saves updates. So, long story short, a bunch of my beloved subscribers did like they do best (which, btw, I love you guys for this) and commented and liked a bunch of those annoying individual clips. For those of you that thought I was changing to individual clips rather than compilations, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I, and I think you do too, much prefer compilations. Anyway, amidst this brief confusion, I appreciate that everyone was still willing to go with the flow. For those of you that weren't aware of any of this, you got story time! Anyway, this week the compilation is slightly longer than usual. I drove a lot this spring break, including 30 miles per day to my grandparents' farm and back. So, anyway, enjoy! Number 30!! Awesome! I'm very happy that I've made it to this point! If I have enough time, I'll try to count the number of total bad drivers since the beginning of the bad driver series. I know it is near 1500 total clips. I was well over 1000 by the 23rd video, and there have been longer videos since then, so we will have to see! In this video, I made two significant errors! That's right, I'm not a perfect driver. The first was my last second dash across 3 lanes because my friend gives sucky directions. There were no cars behind me, however, so no one was negatively affected. My second mistake is slightly more serious. While waiting to enter the roundabout I take on a daily basis, I nearly pulled out in front of someone because I was going a bit fast. Very rarely do people come out of the exit to my left there, so I can't say I expected them. I did manage to stop before the intersection. It is also extremely hard to see the exit on the left there due to the picket fence and bush. Now, immediatley after this incident I began pulling forward again, when ANOTHER car comes out of the same exit! I was actually slightly in the intersection at this point. My bad! That's the first time I've done that on that roundabout. And TWICE! The funny part is, I don't think either of these drivers even flinched. Episode 1: NoVA Dashcam Compilation - Bad Drivers
The people drive so bad around here, that I decided to make a music video out of it. Hopefully you find it entertaining, as I enjoyed putting it together. Tools used: Kodak ZX5 Camcorder, mostly with a wide angle lens @ 1080p, a Sunpak Platinum Plus Click 'n Stick suction cup camera mount, Bracketron GPS dashboard pad (non-adhesive). Also, Sony Vegas Home Studio 9 Platinum, and a lot of patience (I'm about 20% of where I want to be where video editing is concerned). I used Arcsoft's watered down (for Kodak) MediaImpression to create the clips from the raw MP4 files. It is the only thing I have that does this losslessly. The song is "The End is Nigh" by David Leung Haslam ( www.rattic.co.uk ), and it was the main menu theme for the UT2004 mod, Killing Floor. He was gracious enough to give me permission to use this song, which has been one of my favorites for a very long time. Philosophy behind this video I originally planned on typing up a bunch of insightful stuff, but it can mostly be summed up to: Driving is dangerous, so pay attention to what the hell you're doing, and how your actions affect others on the road. I don't care if you speed, I don't even care if you cut me off (just don't go slower than I am). But if I have to make otherwise unnecessary movements to avoid hitting you, then you are a problem. In my previous film posted a couple of years back www.youtube.com I tried to offer some advise, it had a mixed response; those that make an effort to drive well agreed and liked the video, whilst others took a rather defensive approach, and said that none if it mattered - proving their own lack of skills and getting upset that anyone may point out their faults. So this time I thought rather than trying to help, I'd just take the piss instead. Hope you like. I couldn't really decide what to call this, there is little that is dangerous here, but certainly careless, ignorant, rubbish and bad. ------- This is a duel-carriageway, speeds of upto 70mph are permitted, and one of the biggest complaints most of us have about the way people drive is to do with lane dispilne, yet as you can see, here are three cars dordling along on the outside lane at just under 50mph. No wonder some get road rage. The worst bit is this; see the L-plate on the back of this Ford - that's someone being taught how to drive. As I come off this roundabout I have to stop, because some daft woman has decided to turn around in the middle of the road - there's a roundabout just there! Also, no seatbelt on, she veers across the lane in front of me, and then goes through a red light. Honestly to think of something creative to write here every week gets quite difficult. I guess I haven't talked about how it's difficult, so there you go! Also in writing this I completely understand most people won't read it. Or for that matter comment and rate...which I need people to do. That's right! It hasn't been a full week since my last video...and yet here's another! I guess I can chalk that up to a reasonable amount of driving, including a little Friday afternoon adventure downtown with my girlfriend. The weather was pretty nice too! It reached 65 degrees!!!! :D I'm noticing an interesting thing: people here honk a lot! I had my windows down, and I never realized how much honking you hear at intersections. Seriously every few seconds someone is beeping. Interesting - I guess that I'm not the only person that doesn't appreciate the morons. Anyway I hope this week's compilation is good. I'm starting a 'close calls and biggest idiots' compilation that I might release with the 40th or 50th video. Not surprisingly, the roundabout near my house and that god-forsaken 3 way stop at Cedar Hills will constitute about half of the clips. I'll probably have to do a brief explanation of those intersections, since I get comments daily from people that I 'don't know the road laws' and blah blah blah all being spouted by stupid, illiterate trolls who not only don't live here, but can't pay enough attention to the video and my annotations to make reasonable guesses as why other people are being dumb. ***Oh, and MrRoadfreak.... Clips in order: 1. Cut off doing 60mph. Nice driver to my left prevents an accident. 2. Super slow BWM on the phone. Gets passed on the right in a right turn only lane by an angry Subaru. I get a bit angry myself, and honk a bit. This lady needs to get off her phone or off the road. 3. Stupid jay-walker pretends to jump out as I go past. 4. Last second van cuts across 3 lanes. 5. Mercedes trying to avoid "construction" runs a red light and cuts back in the lane he just left. 6. Cut off by a blue Aveo. 7. Near rear-ender by an Acura who doesn't know he wants to turn. 8. Two drivers go in the oncoming lane to pass traffic to get to the light. 9. Car blows past the stop line and juts in. 10. Undertaker over solid white lines gets cut off. 11. Stop sign becomes zipper merge in traffic. I like how this works, even if it isn't technically legal. Look how smoothly traffic is moving! 12. Two red light runners. 13. Car reverses and cuts over three lanes at the last second. 14. Three red light runners. 15. Left lane hogger doing 45 in a 55mph zone pisses me off. 16. Bad driving in Napa and near miss 50
Clip 1 - Near miss with a driver making a right turn from the left lane. Last second blinker too, giving us insufficient time to react. Had we braked instead of kept going, we would have certainly collided! Clip 2 - Truck changes lanes in front of SUV, then brakes hard to make a turn shortly. This upsets the SUV driver who honks. Clip 3 - Man driving a company truck does not have right-of-way, but goes anyway. Clip 4 - Illegal U-Turn over hash-marks. Clip 5 - Lady is over cautious making a right turn on red. The Mercedes C55 driver is talking on his cell phone, at the traffic light he thought we were in a drag race....then did not use his indicator, and at the following traffic light stopped way over the white lines. He then cuts of a driver. The polo driver thought he would get to his destination faster if he drives right up the rear of the car in front of him.
Day 06 - Bad Driving Habits - Terrace BC
Day 6. Incorrect signal light use, speeding and not stopping at stop signs. One drunk or distracted driver coming into town from the airport. One guy running into a no parking sign, while parking. Same careless drivers you see everyday here in Terrace BC. The NHTSA and the insurance industry have reported that unintended lane change crashes have been the direct cause of 23000 annual fatalities on US roadways. When drivers signal before making a lane change they give others on the road an extra split second of reaction time to adjust their driving. An extra split second is all that is needed to avoid the swerve that very frequently causes crashes and road run-offs. A person's life can either be saved or lost in just a split second. (sorry I don't have the Canadian stats)

(10) Confused Taxi, Bad Driving Is Bad For Business, Ignorant Bus Driver.
- Taxi driver goes into the middle lane that turns left, then makes a last second decision to change into the left lane, forcing me to brake. - Business Van does an illegal U-Turn at traffic lights, and over tram lines. Seconds later the tram goes through the intersection. - The bus is going through road works at 25Kph, as we approach the roundabout, the bus enters the roundabout even though there is clearly a car entering from the right. I really hate it when buses do this, there was no other traffic behind the green car, and the bus could have waited for a few more seconds.

Episode 2: NoVA Dashcam Compilation - Bad Drivers
I surprised myself that I was able to create this one less than a month after I finished my last one. What makes this even more spectacular, is that I was out of town for an entire week. I think for my third episode, I will wait for more solid clips. (This will likely take longer than a month) Some of the ones in this compilation may require explanation, but I was so focused on timing the video to the music, there was rarely a chance I could put up explanatory text without taking away from the timing/attention. BAD DRIVER'S AIRBORNE LANDING!
After a Florida Sheriff's deputy noticed a car speeding through an intersection he checked the license plate and learned the driver's license had been suspended. After attempting to pull over the car, the driver speeds off eventually swerving onto the shoulder, hitting a culvert and goes airborne hitting several trees before landing on its roof. ***The must watch part is at 5:50*** My grandfather, who is now 100, drove truck most of his life in Canada both on highway and off in some of the worst weather conditions and roads you could imagine. My father was also a truck driver that must have traveled at least 6 million kilometers in his career before retiring. I have also worked driving truck for a few years hauling high explosives to road construction companies and mines, but I have mainly done other jobs. None of us has ever had an auto crash or caused one. This is due to the fact that we don't speed, we slow down for road conditions and we pay attention at all times. Now I'm not trying to claim that we are better drivers than anyone else. Accidents can happen to anyone at anytime, even us. But 90% of auto crashes are not accidents. They are due to driver inattention, excessive speeding and not slowing down for road conditions. Most people who engage in these activities while driving will tell you they are good drivers and when they get into a crash 90% will tell you it wasn't their fault. Car crashes are still the #1 killer of youth aged 13 to 21 years in my home province of British Columbia. Over 3400 men, women and children are killed every single day on the worlds roads while walking, cycling, or driving.
