Phenix Autogyro Testflight
I was lucky to testfly the Phenix Autogyro. It is the only autogyro/gyrocopter in production with tractor-configuration and has eliminated many CG-related problems of pusher-prop equipped autogyros. The controls are easy and intuitive. I am confident we have a new generation of gyrocopters here.

Autogyro beats Helicopter for small VTOL Missions dynmicpara
If you are broke, you don't fly...and don't ASS U ME just because you are on the tax payer's gravy train that you can force overly complex helicopters to fly if they are being rebuilt. The dirty secret of helicopters is they HAVE TO BE REBUILT after x amount of hours or else they crash and burn. A simple fixed-wing aircraft only needs its engine rebuilt after many, many hours of use. Helicopters are constantly falling apart as you use them. There is a better way to get vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities: THE AUTOGYRO. The same simple engine that spins a prop that pushes a fixed-wing plane forward through the air, instead spins simple rotors overhead. Voila! No costly maintenance and rebuilding, a rotary-wing "grasshopper" albeit not as fast as a fixed-wing STOL plane could be, but it has VTOL for those tight landing and take-off situations when you need it. The FAA-certified autogyro shown in the video not only moves on the ground by a small trailer, it compacts to fit inside a 20-foot ISO shipping container "BATTLEBOX" for air/land/sea transport anywhere in the world and to act as its hanger and troop living area. The autogyro would make an excellent "Killer Bee" for military observation/attack capabilities ORGANIC to ground maneuver units from their "hip pocket" not a bunch of pampered "fly boys" and multi-million-dollar fighter-bombers requiring 10, 000 foot paved runways miles and miles away at some comfy air base eating ice cream while you are getting ...
Autogyro Landing
This is my friend's very beautiful Magni Gyro two seat autogyro (reg G-YROP) Video shows the approach and landing at Guernsey airport on 16th November 2010. I was filming from the rear seat and holding the camera above the windshield! Note the final approach descent..surely unique to gyros!!

auto gyro mini-review for RC Star Cerva C2 ARF Maiden test hop
This is a mini-review for the Cerva C2 by RC Star. The model is a standoff scale ARF model of the Cierva C-30 available on EBay at the moment. I have converted this model to electric but it comes with motor mounts and fuel tank to install a .61 glow or .91four stroke. It comes with a nice hardware package and picture based instructions on a DVD. It is quite light for a model of this size at about 7 lbs. Rotor diameter is 74". The wind was a little gusty at times from the right at 45 degrees. The plane behaved much like a model Piper Cub would have under these circumstances, so it's not a fault of the design. The damage is quite minimal and repairs can be made in a few hours. Be sure to watch for future flights. A full review can be seen on RCGroups at www.rcgroups.com
Goped meets Autogyro
I have adapted a GP420 onto my autogyro for use as a prerotator for the rotor. As you can see, it rocks!! I still have a little tweaking to do, and I need to try a different gear ratio to maximize engine power, but so far, so good.

"Top Gear" - For Gyroplanes / Gyrocopters / Autogyros
This video is available on DVD from www.GyrocopterExperience.com Gyroplanes, Gyrocopters or Autogyros! Find out why they can be "all things to all aviators" in this "Top Gear" style program. Phil Harwood of The Gyrocopter Experience explains to you why flying Gyros is safer than light aircraft or light helicopters. With a variety of models now becoming available in the UK (and worldwide), the big question is... "which one do you want?", Phil explains the main differences between them. You are invited to "fly them, to try them, before you buy them" as they are all available in the Museum, Training School and Showroom at The Gyrocopter Experience - York. The world of Gyroplanes, Gyrocopters or Autogyros has changed! FInd out why :-)

Ultra Short Take-Off Autogyro, Clark Cogan July 2011
Clark Cogan is taking off with his autogyro, powered by hydrogen peroxide rotor tip rockets. This type of take off has never been done before - ever. Setup: Ken Brock 2 Autogyro (KB2) One small rocket at the tips of the blade. Rockets fueled by rocket grade hydrogen peroxide, 90% strength. Rocket development by Erik Bengtsson, Peroxide Propulsion, 2004-2011. More about the tip rocket project here: www.peroxidepropulsion.com/article/35
Helicopter and Autogyro Multi Rotor Rotor Invention .
Helicopter and autogyros at high speeds suffer from advancing blade limitations where the advancing blade speed becomes excessive and the retreating blade stalls limiting any speed increase. This novel design overcomes these two undesireable characteristics with a multi bladed mechanism consisting of main rotor blades with two secondary blades at its tips . The mechanism can transition between three lift characteristics .

Autogyro (1930's)
Credit: NASA Langley Research Center (NASA-LaRC) This clip features the Auto-Gyro. Part plane, part helicopter, this aircraft could take off almost, but not quite, verticaly. Some forward motion, generated by the front propellor, caused the rotors to rotate and therefore generate lift. Later models harnessed the potential for vertical takeoff by coupling the rotors to the main engine.

AutoGyro MTO Stick shake dampener system
I came up with this simple stick shake design and tested this today Jan3 2012. I used an old Cessna front wheel dampener shock. After doing several things to get better balance on the rotor, I decided to try this. It removed about 70% of the remaining stick shake. Other designs like push rod springs put delay and slop into the cyclic or stick. This has no effect on the control performance just reduces vibration and shake. The side mount bracket will be replaced by a 90 degree angle steel bracket. This one was setup for the test flight only. This is not a replacement for dynamic balancing. Texas autogyro
Sikorsky X2 - testing tail motor autogyro
It was very impressive to see how well the autogyro effect works on this machine. At the highest speed the tail prop was only at 25% throttle and the main rotor at 30%. Next step is to fly with up to 50% tail throttle. Will post video soon!
Airventure 2009: Pitcairn PA-18 Autogyro Flight
In this video you see the world's only flying example of the 1932 Pitcairn PA-18 Autogyro. This video comprises of both evening demonstration flights of this aircraft during Airventure 2009. There is one other example of this aircraft that is currently being restored to flying condition. The rest of the Pitcairn PA-18's that were built now rest on the bottom of the Atlantic after the boat transporting them to England was sunk by a German vessel during World War Two. This particular PA-18 finally made it to Oshkosh after being damaged prior to it's planned visit in 2007. The rotor blades were destroyed on takeoff about a month prior to Airventure 2007. They were rebuilt, and the aircraft made the two day flight from Dayton, Ohio this year. Enjoy!

Here's the video that used to be in the kits of the Autogyro Company Of Arizona Kellett Kit Video. This is Part One. This is a great video for autogyro guys to learn how not to force take offs. Since the company is no longer around, I decided to make this video public. These kits will be missed and hope whoever bought this company will eventually resurrect these kits. (And if they ever start selling kits again I will gladly delete these videos for the owner, if he/ she would like.....)
