Available on any standard issue 6 x 6 or 8X8 cross country truck chassis, the ATMOS uses the upper part of Soltam systems' 155mm 52 calibre towed gun ATHOS. Versions with 39 and 45 calibre barrels have been fitted according to some of their customer's requests. This versatility is one of the key factors which have convinced armies with ongoing plans for upgrading artillery forces to choose the ATMOS system. Soltam Systems integrating capability has allowed armies to mount their own towed guns onto in service trucks, thus producing a modern, highly mobile, rapidly deployed and cost effective artillery force. Based on SOLTAM SYSTEMS 60 years of battle proven artillery systems, offering the advantages of high fire power, mobility and short response time, ATMOS is rapidly deployed and operable in difficult terrain. The modular ATMOS system is available with different qualified in-service trucks and gun caliber. The need for a light, long range, fast moving artillery has been recognized for the new battlefield environments, especially in countries, in which terrain conditions, roads, rails and bridges put limitations to weight and size of traditional Self Propelled Artillery Systems.
