Art Deco Wedding Cake for Anna & Nick. A special wedding cake for a very special wedding for some very special friends - Tin Tin (Anna) & Nick. The design of the cake was based on an upside down light fixture with black lines drawn in to match their art deco invitations. They had a lovely wedding on an island with an Art Deco theme & clothing from the 1920s to early 1940s. All the adults were dressed up in clothing & hair styles from this time period. The children were all dressed up in fancy dress - my little 2 year old Kaitlyn was dressed as a bubble bee & my 5 year Mackayla was dressed as a lady bug. We had such a wonderful time on the island(s) with our extended family 'the Nguyens'. Thanks again to the Nguyens, Tin Tin & Nick for organising such a wonderful trip & an unforgetable wedding experience! We couldn't be happier for you! Congratulations again Tin & Nick

This is a book about automotive styling, in particular the streamlined styling that defined what are now known as Airline cars. During the mid-1930s the majority of British car manufacturers and coachbuilders experimented with streamlined styling. This fashion was the result of Art Deco, an international movement that influenced design and marketing in many different industries, and produced some of the most unique and visually exhilarating cars ever produced in Britain. I love Art Deco and as a builder I can really appreciate this venue. Completed in 1933, the Residence of Prince Asaka was constructed by Toda Construction according to the design and under the management of the Design and Construction Section of the Ministry of Imperial Household. It is no exaggeration to say that this exceptionally elegant Art Deco house is the outcome of the prince and princess' passion for the marvel of Art Deco, which they had witnessed firsthand and were eager to incorporate in their residence. It is also the result of the cooperation of Henri Rapin and other French artists to whom Prince Asaka himself entrusted the design of the house. The outward appearance of the residence has an air of restraint, typical of modernist architecture. Ornaments with straight-lined geometry give the outer walls rhythmical and simple attributes, while the Art Deco ornaments applied on the columns and the relief decorating the verandahs highlight the facade, which would otherwise appear monotonous. The first-floor plan of the residence is basically square, with a courtyard for an internal garden. The eastern and southern quarters comprise public space with a guest room at the center, and are isolated from the office and kitchen. The second floor was used as private space by the Imperial Family ofAsaka, and consists solely of Western-style rooms. www.1800lighting.com There is no more fabulous period than Art Deco. It was ultra modern from the mid 1920s right through the thirties and made famous by Hollywood Spectaculars and their grand sets. Today you can still see examples of this great period on Miami's South Beach and in grand LA mansions. Let's take a look at two pieces that will fit perfectly in any Art Deco setting. Art Deco styling is highlighted by its clean streamlines and tailored shapes. This ceiling pendant from the Tribeca Collection by Trump Home beautifully takes on the decorative arts of the period. A cream-colored glass diffuser emits a beautiful warm light. The glamorous polished nickel finish with the white shade and elegant black trim perfectly completes this piece's Art Deco style. While simple black and white are two obvious and key elements to any Art Deco style, let's take a look at a more elegant twist on the period. Here is a piece that is at once formal and frivolous.
