The Bicycle Animation
If you would like to own a laser cut Bicycle Animation design please go to www.etsy.com/shop/katybeveridge1. These are not visible with the naked eye, it must be filmed to animate. This is a piece created to question whether it was possible to film animation in realtime. Part of my CSM 3rd year disseration project I was looking at proto animation (really early basic animation) in contemporary design. I've taken a lot of influence from other contemporary designers who are using these techniques to explore the way we look at animation and how its made. As stated on my channel I have interviewed animators such as Jim le Fevre and in my research referenced other people using this technique such as David Wilson and Tim Wheatley who did this before me. I developed this project based on what is being done in animation right now as well as a lot of primary research into the history of animation techniques. Big Thanks to my friend Stefan Neidermeyer who did the sound. The soundtrack is made up of various bike noies recorded during the filming process which Stef then remixed to make the amazing soundtrack. The Avengers - Official Trailer - 1960's Cartoon
I recreated the Avengers Trailer from February 2012 with animation clips from 1960's Marvel TV cartoons. The only cheat was Nick Fury, but the clips are from his first appearance in an "Iron Man" episode from 1995. I also borrowed a Paramount logo from the same era to fit with the look. Black Widow was a tough find since she was a shadow character and appeared very rarely.

Top Ten Nostalgic Animated Shows
...of the 1990s and early 2000s. Without a doubt the video I put the most passion into and the one that took the longest to finish, I feel Top Ten Nostalgic Animated Shows is my finest work to date. My first countdown (aside from the BEER countdown) to not have anything to do with video games, this video was created as both a reflection of the shows I loved as a kid and a video highlighting the animation of the 1990s and early 2000s. With this, I aim to be able to show this video to anyone, as a nostalgic trip for those my age and as an informative piece for all other generations. I took fan suggestions into account with this video in terms of how it would be made. I've decided to use far less cutaway gags, and have gone back to focusing on narration that aims to both inform and pique interest. The result is something that I feel is very natural on my part. So now, enjoy my latest labour of love! A few notes: -I regretfully have never seen Invader Zim due to it having aired in Canada past 2005 (my cut-off date for this video). It's really a shame since I hear that as a show it has many things I would have liked. -My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is not nostalgic. It aired WAY past my cutoff date. -I'd mention Dragonball Z... but it would take me 20 episodes to do it. In all seriousness, I DID watch the show, but I remember not being into it as much as the other shows on the list... and yes, it took FOREVER to get anything done.

What if My Little Pony was cel animated?
Screwing around in aftereffects, came up with something I thought was interesting. While applying this filter is closer to the idea of 3D cel shading (find polygon/object, outline, flatten color,) the technique of painting an outline then filling it with color one frame at a time is known as Cel Animation (or Traditional Animation). This video gives an idea of what it might look like if each frame were hand-drawn, even though the filter adds in a few things that wouldn't normally be there, like the double outline, and removes others, like the lens flares. took forever to get the right combination of "wont crash after effects, isnt terrible looking, syncs with the audio correctly" etc. upload #2 since youtube thought it would be cool to add a bunch of artifacts and blocking to my h264 upload. edit 4/12/12 go to bed, expect nothing. get nightly'd, wake up to 40 new comments. what the hay? thanks to whoever submitted lol.
