The film opens with a young Rupa studying for her examinations while her parents and brother get ready to leave for a marriage function. On their way to the function, they meet with a fatal accident owing to drunken driving by Anand's father, Gopalan. The scene shifts to 8 years later where young children are learning Carnatic music from Rupa (Kamalinee Mukherjee). Rupa, who's working in an advertisement agency, is engaged to get married to Rahul (Anuj Gurwara), Managing Director of the agency. There enter Anita (Satya Krishnan), her neighbor and the kids who form an integral part of the humor quotient of the movie. The kids, Samatha and Srikanth constantly quarrel with each other. Maamma (English: Grandma), who lives with Anita, takes care of Samatha and Srikanth. Along with Anita, Rupa hangs out with a group of friends Radha, Ram, Ali and Patel. Rupa begins to pool up money for her marriage. One fine day, she gets to see the domineering nature of Rahul's mother and confides into Anita about her fears about the marriage. She decides to go ahead with the marriage assuming that Rahul's presence will eventually prevail over his mother's nature. Coincidentally, while they are speak at a temple, they notice a person who seems to be mentally challenged (Anand's father) ogling at them. Bollywood icon Dev Anand is no more. The veteran actor passed away in London late last night. He was 88. His best remembered film happens to be Guide, for which he won a Filmfare award in 1966. His other notable films include Hum Dono, Jewel Thief, Prem Pujari, and Paying Guest. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dada Saheb Phalke award in 2002. His acting career spans 5 decades and appearance in 110 films.

Mini Biogrphy: Born as Devdutt on September 26, 1923, in the Punjabi-speaking Anand family, son to Advocate Pishorimal, younger and older brother to Chetan and Vijay respectively and one sister, who was subsequently married in the Kapur family, and gave birth to actor/film-maker, Shekhar Kapur, two daughters, Neelu, who was married to actor Navin Nischol, and Aruna who was the wife of Ajay/Parikshat Sahni, son of renowned Balraj Sahni. Both Neelu and Aruna have since been divorced. Dev graduated from Government College, Lahore, British India, left his hometown to work in the Military Censor Office at Churchgate, Bombay. He was offered a role in the 1946 flick 'Hum Ek Hain'. This is where he stuck a friendship with Bollywood legend Guru Dutt. Ashok Kumar introduced Dev as a leading man opposite Kamini Kaushal in 'Ziddi'. The maestro and the legend Dev Anand is back again with his another movie, titled as 'Chargesheet'. The movie is being directed and produced by Dev Anand himself, under the banner of his own production house, Navketan International, and international banner, Warner Bros. Pictures. At this old age, (celebrating his 88th birthday on 26 sept) Dev Anand is also playing the central character in the movie. Dev Anand is one of the greatest stars the Hindi Film Industry has seen. Handsome and debonair, he was the epitome of the suave, urban gentleman. He was born Devdutt Pishorimal Anand in Gurdaspur, Punjab, the middle son of a well-to-do advocate on September 26, 1923. He graduated in English Literature from the Government College, Lahore and left for Bombay to join elder brother Chetan Anand in the IPTA. He was later offered a debut as an actor by Prabhat Talkies to star in their film Hum Ek Hain(1946). While shooting for the film in Pune, Dev struck a friendship with another fellow legendary actor Guru Dutt. A rapid-fire style of dialogue delivery and a penchant for nodding while speaking became Dev's style in films like House No. 44, Pocket Maar, Munimji, Funtoosh, CID and Paying Guest. In the fifties his films were based on mystery genre or light comedy love stories or were films with social relevance like ''Ek Ke Baad Ek'' and Funtoosh. His style was lapped up by the audience and is widely imitated even today.
