Royce Gracie vs Akebono Fight Review
www.jujutsu101.com Royce Gracie vs Akebono; Royce did what he was best at, ground submission, and he won. Akebono did NOT do what he was best at. Akebono should have been coached to NOT go to the ground; he should have done his sumo champion level pushes, slaps, and palm thrusts. I doubt Royce would have gotten Akebono down; but Akebono on his own went to the ground. Fight from your strengths.

HAPI drum Lecture & Demo C Akebono EJ Gold
www.ejgold.com http During a daytime performance, this lecture and demo of the Hapi C Akebono Scale steel-tongue drum was given by EJ Gold, covering a number of exotic subjects related to the HAPI drum and the C Akebono in particular. All Rights BMI registered, used by rights owner. EJ Gold performance with HAPI (Human Activated Percussion Instrument), bass & drum kit. A HAPI is not actually a drum. It is more akin to a vibe or marimba than to a steel drum or gamelan. It is profoundly more pleasant to the ears than brand x.

Hapi Drum Key of D-Akebono Scale, from the HapiTones.com Hapi Hang out
HAPI Drum from HapiTones.com Special edition custom painted and tuned to the Akebono scale in the key of D, it is one of the favorite scales of Hang Drum players. No effects or other instruments, just a pure Hapi demo. In this demo, aside from playing the normal tones, I'm playing around tapping it soft for nice pure tones and also hard, for more edgy metallic sounds and percussive effects. The unique tone of the HAPI (hand activated percussion instrument) is created by a tuned vibrating steel tongue. The concept is similar to a wooden tongue drum. When a tongue is quickly and lightly struck with the finger or mallet it vibrates creating sound waves. We have added dampening of the notes and drum body to keep the drum from becoming discordant and "ringy". This technique is built into each drum and provides excellent resonance while supplying the correct amount of dampening. By placing low notes next to the appropriate higher notes we achieve multiple harmonics. Their vibrations create desirable overtones which compliment the timbre of the tone. Players of the Hang, Tank, Hank, and Tongue Drums will enjoy playing a HAPI. Thanks for watching! Hapi Drum played by John Pascuzzi
Don't stop believing in Sumo champ Akebono
A giant American from the world of Sumo wrestling is shaking things up in Japan - not just with his weight but by his singing. Hawaiian born former grand Champion of Sumo 'Akebono' has been shocking Japanese TV audiences by performing musical routines on TV. Singing and dancing may seem fairly natural pastimes to us but they are taboo behaviour for Sumo Grand Champions who are revered almost as deities in this the most conservative of Japanese sports. Akebono became the first foreign wrestler to reach the pinnacle of Sumo Grand Champion before retiring in 2001. Now he no longer needs to ask the austere Sumo association for permission to perform and believes that his TV debut will help increase the sport's popularity overseas. Many in Japan believe that any kind of undignified performance by a former Sumo champion serves only to cheapen the sport. During his Sumo career Akebono was famous for his sever facial expression, but now he's a man transformed. In fact the smiling Sumo might be seen as a breath of fresh in a sport that is often considered too sever for its own good.

Hapi Drum, E Akebono Scale solo, from the HapiTones.com Happy Hang out
HAPI Drum from HapiTones.com Special edition custom painted and tuned to the Akebono scale in the key of E. The Akebono scale is a traditional five-note Japanese musical scale. In a Western context, it can be thought of as a pentatonic version of the Aeolian mode, and can also be used in many different styles of music. It is also one of the favorite scales of Hang Drum players. No effects or other instruments, just a pure Hapi demo with a touch of reverb.
