A little comparison, but mostly just some fun shooting two of the most popular military and civilian firearms available on the planet! I really like them both! Note: This video gets a lot of antagonistic comments, as do most AK videos. My references to the Soviet Union and such are based on what was going on back in the 60's, 70's, & even '80s. Through 30 or 40 years of my life, the Soviet Union was no place anybody I know wanted to live; in fact, it seemed that anybody who had a chance to do it was defecting to the United States, or even other countries. Guess they just didn't quite see it as "Paradise." :-) I know things have changed there since then. Since this topic can bring out the "ballistics bigotry" in some people, my finger is on the "Remove" button and ready to work overtime! :-) Be good.

Yes I'm shocked too. When I scored a 1" group at 100 yds with an Arsenal SGL21 with iron sights only, I was astonished. Video begins with the proof and then shows how you can transform your quality AK into a 1 MOA shooter...without a scope. Granted this is table-rested slow fire, not Run N Gun and of course all the marksmanship fundamentals apply. And let's not kid ourselves, I still prefer scopes and illuminated optics for speed, ease of use, their night capabilities, and target identification. But this option dominates the stock AK sights for precision. The Tech-Sights, model AK200S, shown and tested, features a .062 rear apeture that provides a clear and precise sight picture. I recommend coupling them with the .047 front sight post that makes this style of shooting possible (at least for me). Rugged, well made, and substantially increasing the sight radius, this AK200S model on the TNP SGL21 impressed the heck out of me with its shooting. PART 1 of 5: Nutnfancy tackling the often controversial issue of the AK-47 versus AR-15 rifle systems. The bottom line is, a quality example of either gun can serve your law enforcement, military, and "civilian sheepdog" requirements admirably. However many factors and considerations should come into play when selecting your choice. When properly maintained and lubricated, the AR-15 is very reliable contrary to many internet, forum, and magazine myths. However it does not rise to the absolute, carefree ruggedness and reliability of the AK design. Whether packed in mud, neglected for cleaning, or just plain thrashed upon, the AK shrugs it all off and continues to shuck rounds with pleasing and life-saving regularity. It is better than the AR-15 system in that regard. It also features a lightning quick and easy fieldstrip. However the AK design has many flaws which include: poorer ergonomics (like its munchkin length of pull), shorter sight radius and inferior sights, heavier magazines and ammunition, difficulty in mounting optics (less variety in application too), slower operational controls, and more recoil. But many accept these shortcomings to gain the increase in stopping power of the larger .30 caliber round. As shown in the video, this 7.62x39mm round pretty much dies after 300 yards but within its range, it hits hard and defeats obstacles much better than the smaller 5.56x45mm offering. However the AR-15 can easily be had in either a 6.5 SPC or Grendel chambering ...

AK47 .22 Caliber Ammo Rapid Fire Test (GSG) ATA
We test out several brands and types of .22LR ammo in the new GSG AK-47. We obviously had many issues with the Remington bulk ammo. The Remington Subsonics performed somewhat better. I edited out much of the personal commentary and personal disgust/opinions I had about the Golden Bullets. The round exploding in the chamber did not help matters. - Overall we really enjoyed shooting the GSG AK-47, when using good quality ammunition.
Making a Draco AK-47 SBR

Do not manufacture a SBR without doing the proper paperwork and paying your tax. Making an illegal SBR is a felony and carries a stiff penalty.
Krebs KTR-08: Upscale AK-47
The Krebs KTR-08 is a heavy hitter when it comes to tricked out AK-47s. It starts out as a stamped receiver born in the Izhmash Russian arsenal factory. Krebs then makes the gun 922r compliant with the addition of many US made, innovative proprietary parts. Most prominent is the long Picatinny rail (Sight Receiver Rail System Krebs Catalog #51) which uses a solid ball truninon and pivot system to lock in above the stamped receiver cover. The rail is easy to un-mount and lock back in. The rail integrates excellent iron sight using an AR-15-like approach: dual aperture in back, height adjustable post up front. This sight system lengthens the radius by 60% over a regular AK. Ergonomics are greatly improved by the addition of a Krebs proprietary safety catch the transfers the actuation to the right thumb (sorry lefties). This is a huge improvement over the standard AK safety catch. Also an op handle notch is milled into the opposite side safety catch lever which can retain the operating handle, another nice feature. The Krebs forward rail is well designed and narrow, preserving the overall excellent ergonomics of the gun. Plenty of real estate is available on the rail but be careful not destroy your swing weight (discussed). The KTR also has two excellent Tapco brand upgrades: a single hook G2 trigger and pistol grip with storage compartment. The trigger releases crisply.
