Yes, that's right, I said The Aislers Set! Yoshi, Wyatt and the matchless Linton came back to London to play for Fortuna Pop!'s 15th anniversary party. They were joined by Kyle Crystal Stilts on keyboards, Mark Lucksmiths on bass and Gary Olson on, what else, trumpet! The Walk was actually their encore. Ridiculously they weren't headlining, but then again, their presence was only announced about a month ago. So they only prepared 6 songs in that time through transatlantic powers. They played 5 and then of course we were all shouting for More More More! Linton led them all back on to play the rather slow The Walk but god, we just wanted to hear her lush voice again. I miss that voice so so much and I don't care what she does musically, just please sing for us more! Pop music is missing a LOT without Linton's incredible musical and lyrical talent and that rich, perfect voice.

Clouds Will Clear (Aislers Set Cover)
I first heard this song in the fall of 2001. My then-girlfriend Marah Anderson (now one of my best friends) was really into record collecting, and she played it for me as a b-side on the Aislers Set's "Action Attraction Reaction" 7". While it isn't one of the band's more musically sophisticated songs, I liked the melody and was struck by its innocence (something I had much more of then), its sweetness, and its subtle darkness. With my first video project, I wanted to use a simpler song that required minimal instrumentation and was (relatively) easy to record. This song had been going through my head, so I went with it. I thought I might be able to fill out the sound with the piano and a new bridge in the middle, without betraying the intent of the original artist. I had a lot of help with this project, my first attempt at anything like this. Josh helped me record it with ProTools, sound equipment, and his guitar skills (which far exceed what was called for in the song). Thad Bolyard (not Burl, as the credits read) lent me his camera and shot all of the footage of me. Miranda Van Cleave drove us around, added some creative input, let me use her iMovie-equipped laptop, and shot the door scenes, which were filmed at Griffin Hanney's house. While we were recording, Josh kept saying, "HEE-eeey. I'm over HEE-ur," which inspired the 'hey heeeeey you' part in the middle.
