Promoting & accelerating science & technology (with good intentions)
It seems odd that large and small private companies get access to these sciences and technologies that are funded publicly. One of the main causes for post traumatic stress disorder is war so it doesn't give these private businesses more insentive to discourage war politically. I guess it's nothing new. "War is a racket" - Major General Smedley Butler (so is disease) I'm NOT saying that these scientists WANT or intend to abuse this power. I'm pointing out that business interests directly influence what will be studied and created. I wouldn't be comforted much if it was all federal government money either. Ray Kurzweil on how technology will transform us, Best Memory Vitamins
www.excelerol.com - Best Memory Vitamins Inventor, entrepreneur, visionary, Ray Kurzweil's accomplishments read as a startling series of firsts -- a litany of technological breakthroughs we've come to take for granted. Kurzweil invented the first optical character recognition (OCR) software for transforming the written word into data, the first print-to-speech software for the blind, the first text-to-speech synthesizer, and many electronic instruments. Yet his impact as a futurist and philosopher is no less significant. In his best-selling books, which include The Age of Spiritual Machines and The Singularity Is Near When Humans Transcend Biology (which is set to become a movie in 2008), Kurzweil depicts in detail a portrait of the human condition over the next few decades, as accelerating technologies forever blur the line between human and machine.

TEDxUSC - Andrew Hessel - Crowd-Sourced Cancer Cures
Andrew Hessel, a consulting biologist and advocate of DNA technologies, discusses the acceleration of technological DNA change to help cure cancer. Hessel refers back to 2002 when he booted up the first synthetic virus and started to make synthetic bacteria. Today he is playing around and reengineering simple organisms like algae to make fuels. Hessel emphasized that the field is moving so quickly that education has not been able to keep up. There aren't that many genetic engineers because the only way you can learn the skill is by doing it. Hessel says that this technology has the potential to create bigger and new industries that will help cities and people out. "The future is already here. It's just not very evenly distributed." Hessel is the CEO of Pink Army Cooperative, the world's first cooperative biotechnological company that is working to make personalized, affordable medicines for breast cancer and serves as co-chair of the Bioinformatics and Biotechnology program at Singularity University, an interdisciplinary university that aims to prepare leaders for accelerating technological change.

Transcendent Man & The Singularity by Ray Kurzweil
Ray Kurzweil is an award winning inventor and engineer. His inventions have changed the lives of millions of people suffering from speech and visual deficiencies. Ray presents his bold vision of the Singularity, a point in which technological advancements are so rapid that human beings will have to merge with artificial intelligence in order to stay at the forefront of technology. Ray's predictions are quite inspiring, and his rationale is well supported. The reality is, exponential growth is a natural biological process and technological advancement is an excellent example of this type of growth. Each year computers get faster and faster. We are able to solve more complex problems and advance our knowledge and understanding of how things work. From our computers to our cell phones, internet access, transportation and communication systems, technology feeds upon itself and surrounds us all. There is no sure way of knowing what the future will bring, but one thing is for sure, technology will play a key role in what is yet to come!

Caparo T1 - The fastest accelerating road car on the planet
Nothing can prepare you for the take off speed of the Caparo T1. All aspects of the cars performance is instantaneous, acceleration, cornering, braking. But especially the acceleration. It distorts your perception of time and distance. 0 150 is F1 quick, it simply leaps from 50 to 120mph in what seams like little more than the 100 milliseconds the paddle shift takes to change gears. Sheer speed, this is what the Caparo T1 does better than any other road car in the world.

KERS vs KEGS ReGenX Technology Demo University of Ottawa 2010
Kinetic Energy Recovery Technology vs Kinetic Energy Generating Technology. The Regenerative Acceleration Generator produces 10.2 watts at 3300 RPM while the Conventional Generator is able to produce ONLY 0.001 watts at 62 RPM with an identical prime mover input setting. The Regenerative Acceleration Generator produces 1019900% more output power over the conventional generator. REGENERATIVE ACCELERATION GENERATOR TECHNOLOGY There is now a new technology to add to the energy technologies debate. It is called Regenerative Acceleration Generator Technology (RM) and it is more of a "new energy" paradigm than just a new technology. What PDI Research has succeeded in designing a generator coil which REVERSES generator armature reaction. This armature reaction is responsible for the braking effect in electric vehicles. As the EV generator converts the vehicle's stored kinetic energy, electrical power is delivered to the batteries while it simultaneously decelerates the vehicle. As the vehicle kinetic energy drops the power supplied to the batteries also drops. PDI has been successful in creating generators coils which do not decelerate when a load is applied - but accelerate instead. Now when the RM generator is supplying power to the batteries the kinetic energy increases and the energy paradigm is reversed - since both kinetic energy and electrical energy now are increasing. Provision Networks RDP Flash Acceleration
Content delivered trough VDI and Terminal Server environment is growing exceedingly rich. The use of videos, images and photos and other rich content in VDI and Terminal Server environments has become a requirement. Flash is a particularly good example of this. Flash is one of the most popular formats to deliver multimedia rich content these days. Unfortunately, due to its graphic nature, Flash does not perform very well over slow connections using just the RDP protocol (like other VDI vendors use). This does not just go for Flash. Content containing high numbers of images (any website these days) or videos also delivers a somewhat poor user experience when using just the RDP protocol. This is especially true for slower network connections. This is why Provision Networks has developed several technologies to significantly enhance the performance of multimedia content in RDP sessions. We already showed you a demonstration of how we are accelerating the performance of video in a VDI or Terminal Server session. The following videos are demonstrations of Provision Networks RDP Bitmap and Flash Acceleration for VDI and Windows Terminal Services. They compare the performance of using just the RDP protocol (like VMware VDM uses for example ) to using RDP with the Provision Networks RDP Bitmap and Flash Acceleration. The difference is quite significant. This is a prototype as of June 2008, and is expected to be productized in a future version of our software. Patrick Rouse ...
