LÊ BÁ HÙNG returns as US Navy Commander - left Vietnam as a Refugee "Person of the Week"

(abcnews, Nov. 13-2009) Hung Ba Le's first ocean voyage was aboard an overcrowded fishing trawler when he was 5 and his family and hundreds of other terrified refugees fled Vietnam as Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese Communist army. Today he is Commander Le and at the helm of the warship USS Lassen as it makes a good will visit to the country he once fled. "To think that 34 years ago I left here as a little boy and to come back here now, it's incredible," said Le, the first ever Vietnamese-American Navy captain. At the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, Saigon was falling. Thousands fled the country in boats. Five-year-old Le, his family and 400 other refugees crammed aboard a fishing trawler. Le's father, Thong Ba Le, was a commander in the South Vietnamese Navy and helped navigate the boat. "It was crowded, we were running out of water, definitely low on diesel fuel," said Le. "We were rescued I think just in time." After two days at sea, they were rescued by a US Navy ship, the USS Barbour County, that took them to America where the family settled in Virginia. Le's father, who is now 68, got a job bagging groceries, working his way up to manager to support eight children. "I start looking for a job the second day I come here," the elder Le said. "I don't want to be a burden to this society." "I'm very thankful for all the sacrifices he's made for me and my brothers and sisters and for my mom," Le said of his father. A strong student and athlete, Le won appointment to ...

TRAYVON MARTIN ....WTF

ABC News has uncovered questionable police conduct in the investigation of the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white neighborhood watch captain in Florida, including the alleged "correction" of at least one eyewitness' account. Sanford Police Chief Billy Lee said there is no evidence to dispute self-appointed neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman's assertion that he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin out of self-defense. "Until we can establish probable cause to dispute that, we don't have the grounds to arrest him," Lee said. Martin had been staying at his father's girlfriend's house during the night of the NBA All-Star game Feb. 26. The teenager went out to get some Skittles and a can of ice tea. On his way back into the gated suburban Orlando community, Martin, wearing a hood, was spotted by Zimmerman, 26. According to law enforcement sources who heard Zimmerman's call to a non-emergency police number, he told a dispatcher "these a..holes always get away." Zimmerman described Martin as suspicious because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and walking slowly in the rain, police later told residents at a town hall. A dispatcher told him to wait for a police cruiser, and not leave his vehicle. But about a minute later, Zimmerman left his car wearing a red sweatshirt and pursued Martin on foot between two rows of townhouses, about 70 yards from where the teen was going. Lee said Zimmerman's pursuit of Martin did not of itself constitute a crime ...

ABC NEWS - DAY 2: -- Psychiatrists Put Kids at Risk With Mind-Altering Drugs

www.psychsearch.net SEE DAY 3 here: youtu.be ABC Doctors Put Foster Children at Risk With Mind-Altering Drugs By BRINDA ADHIKARI, JOAN MARTELLI and SARAH KOCH Dec. 1, 2011 Across America, doctors are putting foster children on powerful, mind-altering drugs at rates up to 13 times that of children in the general population. What's more, doctors are prescribing foster children drugs at doses beyond what the Food and Drug Administration has approved, sometimes in potentially dangerous combinations, according to a new report by the federal Government Accountability Office. "It's just almost beyond comprehension," said Sen. Thomas Carper, D-Del., who asked for the GAO investigation. "We want the doctors and nurses that are prescribing these medicines to look at their behavior and think and ask this question. Are we doing something wrong here?" In Florida, regulators have been grappling with that question since a 7-year-old boy, Gabriel Myers, killed himself in 2009 after being prescribed a powerful mix of psychotropic medication. His psychiatrist, Dr. Sohail Punjwani, had, at different times, prescribed two drugs that carry black box labels — warning of the need to carefully monitor patients because of the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, which call for careful monitoring. However, even though Gabriel visited Punjwani's office seven times, his foster father said Gabriel usually only spent about five minutes talking to the doctor. Gabriel's death ...

INSANE footage of the Kirksville, MO Tornado (HQ video with added footage) (5/13/09)

The first part was shot on the NW side of Kirksville from a bridge on State Hwy 6 and shows the tornado as a 1/4 mile wide wedge as it approaches the Toyota dealer and Lakeside subdivision on the north side of town. If you listen closely you will hear me say to Kory Hartman on the phone that "I think it is moving north of the town," and then later hear me excitedly shout in the background. At this time I did not know the tornado was actually going to hit the north side of town and if I did I would have had a much more serious tone as I did not want to see anything get hit. In the next clip you can see the close encounter with the same tornado after it had moved east of the city. The tornado had become much smaller in size but was still packing quit the punch as it turned to the right and nearly sideswiped me. This was not an intentional close encounter and one that I am lucky to have made it through as if I had driven about 100yards further up the road the tornado would have passed right over me. Lastly you can see the video that was shot with my larger, shoulder mounted camera. I had tossed it into the back seat after turning onto the dirt road so I could keep both hands on the steering wheel and when I did I forgot to hit the stop recording button. Watch closely and you can hear and see the bits of debris that was falling around my vehicle and pelting it. Then as the tornado gets closer to me you can watch and see as the speckled bits of plant matter and insulation gets ...
