Aardman Animation, On Probation Steve's Brother, classic DVD
This was me back in 1981, I was 17 and in a youth hostel in Filton Bristol, and this bunch of animation amateurs called Aardman Animation came to our hostel and recorded one of our meetings! -- I don't think we can call them a bunch of amateurs now, all I wanted to do was see my brother down in the courts sells before he got sent down, which I did and I ended up having the whole day off anyway and getting pissed up, and at to explain myself in the next meeting lol, I was a little peed off that they didn't include my name in the credits, I was the main character but they did give us £250 for the hostel which they spent on a camping trip for us - however this is my chance, my name is Steve Powell and I am the kiddie with the yellow hair and red shirt and brown jacket, I don't really look like that lol. Think you can still buy this DVD! Its called Aardman Classics DVD/VHS, or ebay is a good place to get it, Now I'm a good boy with wife two kids living in Cornwall having an easy life. Update: if there is anyone that was in the new careers hostel at the same time as me it would be cool to hear from you, think that the hostel is being used for something different now? and I'm not interested in those sort of people, if you know what I mean?

envisionTEC supports Aardman's latest feature 'The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists'
EnvisionTEC support Aardman's latest feature 'The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists' For their latest feature film, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! Aardman chose the EnvisionTEC Perfactory Standard machine as their first choice for 3D Printing of the heads and mouths. This technology was chosen for a number of reasons. With the possibility of over 20000 mouth replacements planned accuracy was an essential feature of the printing method. The mouths also needed to be interchangeable, all exactly fitting the characters' heads. With such a large number of mouths required during filming the system needed to run 24/7 and be capable of producing hundreds of pieces every day. Envisiontec UK supplied Aardman with four Perfactory Standard machines, all set to produce the mouths within 30 micron accuracy running the E-shell range of materials. Aardman started work in 2009 manufacturing heads with interchangeable mouths for all the main characters and they also used the technology for making prototypes for maquettes. The film was produced on time and within budget with the help of this latest technology. Envisiontec GmbH manufactures and sells a range of 3D printing solutions for a range of industries. Please contact www.envisiontec.com for further details. Notes to Editors: In The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists 3D, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain -- a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than ...

The behind-the-scenes video, launched today, shows the incredible amount of detail used for each Aardman character and why the process Aardman uses to film Shaun the Sheep lends its self so well to the 3-Dimensional visuals of the Nintendo 3DS. The clip also explores how each specific character is made and shows a sneak-peek of an upcoming episode where Shaun parodies a famous character from Nintendo. As part of the Nintendo and Aardman venture the Aardman model makers have even made a Mini replica Nintendo 3DS especially for Shaun!
