A Brief History of Silent Hill

Apologies about the annoyingly low audio levels, by the way. Just use the subtitles if you want. Also, any opinions expressed in the video are not necessarily my own. After the surprisingly positive reaction to the first video that stepped outside of my comfort zone of Noisy Hill, I bring you A Brief History of Silent Hill (no, I haven't quite yet stepped out of the comfortable arms of Silent Hill). 10 years ago today, Silent Hill 1 was released, and here's a brief video explaining some things that you already knew about the town. When I realised that Silent Hill's 10th birthday was in 2009, I thought "Great! Maybe I'll do some kind of Brief History to celebrate. I should have loads of time." This was last week, before I realised when the anniversary actually was, so please excuse the fact that this was rushed, especially the video, which was thrown together at the last minute in a desperate attempt to try and make me get this out in time. Annoyingly, some parts of the video freeze, meaning that you have a nice shot of Cybil when you should be looking at Harry, but oh well... you get the point. By the way, I have about 5 minutes of that Origins glitch recorded somewhere, waiting to be uploaded at some point. Looks weird, right? Also, Press Start to begin... seriously, Homecoming took ages for me to get any footage at all, so be thankful you got any. About subtitles: Added them using the YouTube thing. I think I'm going to do this more often, what do you think? And no, I'm ...

A Brief History of The United States of America

Partway through the documentary BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE,filmmaker Michael Moore offers up an animated "Brief History of the United States of America," by Harold Moss of Flickerlab, which outlines the ways that racial fear has shaped US sensibility. The story goes, briefly, like this: Pilgrims cross the Atlantic to esca...pe persecution; in the New World, they run into scary Native Americans whom they proceed to massacre. Importing free labor from Africa ("the genius of slavery"), the New World denizens find more reason to be afraid, arm themselves against rebellion, and soon the US is "the richest country in the world." Increasing internal resistance to this particular economic system is met by the invention of multiple shot weapons, and when the KKK is declared illegal (a "terrorist organization"), the NRA is born. As blacks migrated to cities, "whites ran in fear to the suburbs, and once in the suburbs, still afraid, they bought millions and millions of guns" in an inevitably failing effort to preserve their property, privilege, and sense of "order." And so on. As antic as the images may be -- crowds of little white folks running from one section of the cartoon map to another, waving their weapons, with stricken looks on their flat little faces -- the point is made. Much fear in the US is racially based. Moore goes on to point to a variety of examples, some more clearly related than others -- "Africanized" killer bees, racialized designations of the "evildoers," Willie ...

History of Everything

From the big bang, to the dawn of man, wars, culture, extinction, and through until the universe's eventual death. Music by Barenaked Ladies, The big bang theory is appreciated and respected in scientific circles. And this video was a requested by a friend, please feel free to discuss your various views about creation and evolution, but don't be crude, threatening, or stupid. This isn't a debate forum. PLEASE ENJOY!! Lyrics: Our whole universe was in a hot dense state, Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait... The Earth began to cool, The autotrophs began to drool, Neanderthals developed tools, We built a wall (we built the pyramids), Math, science, history, unravelling the mysteries, That all started with the big bang! "Since the dawn of man" is really not that long, As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song. A fraction of a second and the elements were made. The bipeds stood up straight, The dinosaurs all met their fate, They tried to leap but they were late And they all died (they froze their asses off) The oceans and pangea See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya Set in motion by the same big bang! It all started with the big BANG! It's expanding ever outward but one day It will cause the stars to go the other way, Collapsing ever inward, we won't be here, it wont be heard Our best and brightest figure that it'll make an even bigger bang! Australopithecus would really have been sick of us Debating out while here they're ...

A History of Evil

Animated Documentary-Mockumentary about Evil in western civilization from Ancient Greece to present day. After all the comments I feel like some clarification is in order, but firstly, to you guys that liked it: Thanks, you've made my day. The film was intended to show what people have believed in and pointed to as evil throughout history. It was meant to get you to think about what evil really is. It is meant to show that when we get too obsessed with "evil" we might end up taking part in it ourselves. One has to separate evil and human cruelty. Human cruelty is people not being nice to one another. Evil is soemthing else, it is something we have created, a word and a concept for things that are not acceptable. It is a label for things that we do not understand and dont want to understand. But is evil really ever a complete explanation for anything? A lot of bad deeds has been done in the name of good. The people that did them ment good, are they evil? OK, and finally, This video is not meant to: -blame wester culture and people for all the "evil" in the world. I'm european, and thought that I better stick to my own history. -blame religion for all the evil in the world. -claim that God is dead. (It is simply a reference to the philosopher Nietzsche, look him up.) -offend anyone, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. -claim that Elvis was evil. -be an exact and complete account of the actual events that has taken place throughout history. This was a student ...

Forever Shine Jeff Lucky

A brief history of the legacy of diamonds and a plea for everyone to be aware of the effect of their actions. This song is from the album Soul Motivation, available at www.summersoulrecords.com or itunes. http Twitter - @thejefflucky Lyrics below So we still rock diamonds to prove we on When the rebels waged war in Sierra Leonne Kidnapping little kids what a goddamned shame That you could find the same diamonds in the platinum chain Around the neck of the African American man who got fame Now the ice bezzle spelling his name Caught him slipping at the club and that boy got slain Here and Africa we died for the very same thing Can you imagine. Cecil Rhodes was a bastard Visionary my ass. He used to terrorize the native masses He's probably laying in his grave laughing he raped Africa Now blacks can't give his family money faster We have to think about the natives way back when He disenfranchised exploited and massacred them Just to get his hands on that gem, it's been the same since then Diamonds are a murderers best friend Hook Can't tell us nothing we shining Straight from the shore to the store and we buy them Told us there were no more wars but they lying This is for the ones that put the die in diamond Shine when the light and that stone connect together Just shine in the sun and the rain or any weather The pain is forever, the stain is forever The blame is forever I'll forgive you never Just shine They say the girls start smiling when they see the rock shining But ...

Video explains the world's most important 6-sec drum loop

This fascinating, brilliant 20-minute video narrates the history of the "Amen Break," a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music -- a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures. Nate Harrison's 2004 video is a meditation on the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and the history of a remarkable music clip.

Brief History of Video Games Part Three

This is where I discuss 16 through 64 bit envy and some other things. Now, I realize the video is a tad longer than the others - that is due to technical specs that included about each system that scroll by as I talk . . .more like while I ramble and say ummmm . . .ummmm . . .what do you want I finnaly got laid the other night . .. okay no I didn't, but I did play some games. Oh and I FREAKIN forgot to credit Weird Al Yankovic for the music in this video. It is from his Dare to be Stupid Album. And the Sadam clip is from Hot Shots Part Deux. I love you Al, I am sorry. Al Yankovic in no way condones or endorses any part of this video.

Atheists religion debunked (part 2) - A brief history, evolution fairytale.

I made another nice clip concerning the Atheist religion. This time i tried to get as much as examples as i could about other Atheist Prophets beginning from the 17th century. Many Prophets tried to explain the satanic evolution fairytale, but time after time they got debunked in a short period of time. It's funny to see that the Atheists main Prophet named Darwin had more succes, well, if you look at the time in wich Prophet Darwin lived you will notice that there was simply a lot of reason to reject God. I hope you love this Religious clip about the Atheist Religion. Again i made the soundtrack myself, i have a strange taste when it comes to music, a bit mysterious, just as you should describe the Atheist Religion, because the people who believe in it don't even know who their REAL GOD is, but WE do ! www.answersingenesis.org May God bless all Christians worldwide!!! For the Father, Christ and the Holy Spirit are one and the same ! ******************** Copyright notice. From Poison to Cow Dung: A History of Philosophers' Deaths

Complete video at: fora.tv From suicide by a love potion to suffocating in cow dung, Simon Critchley gives a brief history of the deaths of famous philosophers -- stories he describes as "weirdness, madness, suicide, murder, bad luck, pathos and some very dark humor." ----- English philosopher Simon Critchley, chair and professor of Philosophy at The New School for Social Research, discusses his 2009 New York Times bestseller, The Book of Dead Philosophers. Starting with Cicero's axiom, "To philosophize is to learn how to die," Professor Critchley leads us to his conclusion that to die is to learn how to live. The Daily Telegraph called the book "rigorous, profound, and frequently hilarious" and described Critchley as "an engaging and deadpan guide to the metaphysical necropolis" as well as "bracingly serious and properly comic." - The New School Simon Critchley was born in Hertfordshire in 1960, and currently lives and works in New York as Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research. He failed dramatically at school before failing in a large number of punk bands in the late 70s and failing as a poet some time later. This was followed by failure as a radical political activist. By complete accident, he ended up at university when he was 22 and decided to stay. He found a vocation in teaching philosophy, although his passions still lie in music, poetry and politics. The Book of Dead Philosophers is his eighth book.

Prophets of Islam with brief history.....

Muslims regard as Prophets of Islam (Arabic: نبي) those non-divine humans chosen by Allah as prophets. Each prophet brought the same basic ideas of Islam, including belief in one God and avoidance of idolatry and sin. Each came to preach Islam and told of the coming of the final law-bearing prophet and messenger of God: Muhammad. Each prophet directed a message to a different group and each prophet taught minor variations in Sharia (or the practice of religion) to a different target-audience. These variations constitute applications of Islam: mainstream Muslims do not consider them discrete versions of Islam. Islamic tradition holds that God sent messengers to every nation. In Islam, only Muhammad was sent to convey God's message to the whole world, whereas other messengers (rasuls) were sent to convey their messages to a specific group of people or nation. Unlike Judaism and Christianity, Islam distinguishes between a direct messenger of God (rasul) and a prophet (nabi). Both function as divinely inspired recipients of God's revelation. However, in addition, rasuls are given a divine message or revelation for a community in book form. While every rasul is a nabi, not every nabi is a rasul. Muslims regard Adam as the first prophet and Muhammad as the last prophet; hence Muhammad's title Seal of the Prophets. In Islam, Jesus is regarded as a nabi and a rasul because he received wahi (revelation) from God, through which God revealed the Injil (Gospel) to him.[1] Muslims ...
