Special Service Group Navy SSG(N) Pakistan Army
The Special Service Group Navy, codename SSG(N), are the Pakistan Navy's elite principal special operations naval force component. Together with the PAF 312th SS Wing, Special Service Group, Pakistan Marines, and Rangers, they form Pakistan Special Operations Command (P-SOC) under the joint administrative control of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Defence Forces. The SSG(N) are often trained to conduct sea-air-land incursion, counter-terrorism, naval intelligence gathering, hostage rescue, and boarding.[2] The SSG(N) are deployed deployed in a wide variety of missions, including direct action and special reconnaissance operations, unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and other missions. Without exception, all SSG(N) are male members of either the Navy, or the Coast Guard. The details of most SSG(N) missions are highly secretive, and the identities of operatives are kept classified. SSG(N) are often compared to the US Navy SEALs and Britain's Special Boat Service.

On February 13, 2012, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman visited PAF Base Shahbaz in Jacobabad. The two military leaders were also flown in two Block 52 Lockheed Martin F-16D Fighting Falcon fighters of PAF in a formation flight. The two F-16Ds can be seen equipped with Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFTs).

Pakistan's military chief has summoned his top commanders for talks amid a widening rift between the armed forces and the civilian government that led to the dismissal of the country's top defence official. Thursday's meeting, headed by General Ashfaq Kayani behind closed doors at army headquarters, comes ahead of a parliamentary session to discuss the latest developments in the so-called "memo-gate" scandal which has pushed the country into political and legal crisis. The Armed Forces have started a massive awareness campaign and concession package all over the province. To the level of Pak Army, this campaign met overwhelming successes. They established these relief camps in different cities of Pakistan & people open heartedly gave donations in these camps. Lieutenant Jahangir Mari, the brave son of Balochistan was born in 1984 in Kohlu, a remote area of Balochistan. His father, Fateh Khan is an assistant at commissioners office, Kohlu. Lt Jahangir acquired his basic education from Taleem Foundation Grammar School, Kohlu. He was an outstanding student and subsequently, he shifted to Quetta and joined Tameer-e-Nau, College Quetta and obtained 1st Division in his FA examination. The Shaheed lieutenant Jahangir Marri belonged to Gazini sub-branch of Marri tribe and had joined Pakistan Army in 2006 and was commissioned in 34 Baloch in 2008. Lt Jahangir was a dedicated and loyal officer. He encouraged his brothers to join the army and was lucky enough to go to the war zone soon after his commissioning where his performance was remarkable. He was a respected figure among his colleagues and subordinates, and proved to be an excellent leader in the field, as he believed in leading from the front! He and his soldiers had captured a number of terrorists alive in the Bajaur Agency. It was on the 10th of July, when Lt Jahangir Mari volunteered himself for a search patrol and while leading the patrol from the front, he encountered miscreants at Chenar in Charmang Valley of Bajaur Agency. Pakistan Army: Rawalpindi - March 5, 2012: Pakistan today successfully test fired the Short Range Surface to Surface Ballistic Missile Hatf II (Abdali), as part of the process of validation of land based ballistic missile systems. Hatf II (Abdali) with a range of 180 km, carries nuclear as well as conventional warheads with high accuracy. It provides an operational level capability to Pakistan's Strategic Forces, additional to the strategic and tactical level capability, which Pakistan already possesses. The test was witnessed by Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General (Retired) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Commander Army Strategic Force Command Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, senior officers from the Armed Forces, Scientists and Engineers of strategic organizations.

7th April, 2012: At least 150 soldiers of Pakistan Army, including a colonel went missing earlier Saturday after an avalanche hit them at Gayari sector near Siachen Glacier. The incident occurred at about 6am at an altitude of about 16000 feet and 180 miles northeast of Skardu the capital of Baltistan. Heavy machinery were sent from Rawalpindi for rescue work. Army helicopters were sent to the site to search and rescue the buried soldiers but the rescue operation couldn't continue due to darkness and bad weather. "At six o'clock this morning this avalanche hit (military) headquarters. Over 100 soldiers and personnel are trapped," said the spokesman, Major-General Athar Abbas earlier, adding that rescue teams had headed to the scene. So far, there have been no survivors or bodies found. How many journalists were killed? SAFMA?

Koh-i-Sufaid (White Mountain), the Pakistan Army's first major counter-terrorism operation was launched at midnight, July 2-3, 2011. Over 4000 troops were deployed for a full-fledged air and ground offensive, purportedly to secure the heights and plains of the Central Kurram Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The Pakistani military launched its latest offensive against Taliban militants in northwest Pakistan in Kurram, an agency within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Dubbed Operation Koh-e-Sufaid (White Mountain), the offensive targeted militants in central and lower Kurram with the principal objective of securing and reopening the Thall-Parachinar road, a major thoroughfare through Kurram that had come under repeated attack by militants. Brigadier Basharat Ahmed, Sector Commander, Central Kurram Agency, disclosed, some 40 militants had been killed and several areas were 'cleared' of militants, including Manato, Dombeki, Gawaki and Sungroba. The forces continued to advance. On July 25, 2011, Major General Athar Abbas, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), added that Operation Koh-e-Sufaid was "continuing successfully". ISLAMABAD: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has decided to execute development projects in Pakistan's federally administered tribal areas (Fata) bordering Afghanistan in collaboration with Fata Secretariat and Pakistan Army due to security concerns, official sources said here Wednesday. Earlier, the projects were to be carried out by the United States agency through its own selected agencies and non-governmental organisations. The USAID has a total allocation of $145 million for development projects in Fata areas, a battleground between Pakistan Army and Taliban fighters, for FY09 [fiscal year 2009-10] and all the development would be executed by the USAID selected implementing partners. "It takes time to create institutional structure and financial management and accountability mechanisms required to monitor the resources. We expect that $750 million will be fully implemented at the end of the five years," said USAID in an e-mailed query to over the delay and non-utilisation of funds for the area. To a question of handing over the development projects in Fata to Pakistan Army, the agency said, "No. The Pakistan Army is not an implementing partner in the US-pledged programme of $750 million over five years." The USAID has a total commitment of $936 million under the programmed and un-programmed projects for FY09. Out of this allocation, $145 million would be spent on Fata development. Rawalpindi - November 26, 2011: On the night of 25/26 November NATO helicopters and fighter aircraft carried out unprovoked firing on two Pakistani Army border posts in Mahmand Agency as a result of which 24 troops embraced shahadat and 13 were injured. Pakistani troops effectively responded immediately in self defence to NATO / ISAF's aggression with all available weapons. COAS has strongly condemned NATO / ISAF's blatant and unacceptable act resulting in loss of precious lives of Pakistani soldiers. While lauding the effective response by the soldiers of Pakistan Army in self defence, he directed that all necessary steps be under taken for an effective response to this irresponsible act. A strong protest has been launched with NATO / ISAF in which it has been demanded that strong and urgent action be taken those responsible for this aggression.
