Talib Kweli Talks Gutter Rainbows, Prisoners Of Conscious, Goonish Rap & Being A Better Writer
After performing at The Roundhouse in London on the 17th of this month, Talib Kweli invited SoulCulture down to the studio the next day, where he was joined by Akon-affiliated UK emcee Sway to record a song together. In-between recording and shooting a music video in London, Kweli spoke to SoulCulture TV about his displeasure at the gig of the night before, his experiences of the UK's Capital and why he chose to shoot a video here for a song from his new album, Gutter Rainbows. He also discusses how he perceives his lyrical growth across albums and another album he is also working on titled Prisoners Of Conscious, describing the former project as "like the early outtakes of Prisoners Of Conscious, but embellished upon."

GUTTER GEESE (Maddy Prior & Ian Anderson)
This is one of my favorite songs from Maddy Prior's 1978 solo album, "Woman In The Wings". The project not only had the distinction of featuring members of Jethro Tull as studio musicians, it was also supervised by Tull frontman, Ian Anderson. Ian, along with Martin Barre, John Glascock, Barriemore Barlow & David Palmer were each featured on individual tracks, evidently not wishing to have Maddy's album sound as if Tull had assembled as her back-up band. Even Ian's wife, Shona, sang backing vocals on one song, and the entire production was engineered by long-time Tull recording tech wizard, Robin Black. This was production team Baby Hollywood's entry film into the 48 hour shootout competition at Ohio University for winter 2008. The film took 2nd place in the competition. The whole project only took a weekend (48 hours) to complete. The genre assigned to team Baby Hollywood was comedy, the line of dialogue was "You mean he's your brother", and the prop was headache medicine. Anthony Fabiano and John Heeg headed the project as Executive Producer and Director.
