How To Define 4a/4b Hair with Gel
For more information on caring for natural and relaxed hair visit www.growblackhair.net This is a response video to a video I viewed a few days ago. I tried the technique and it worked beautifully. I altered it a bit because instead of the wavy look I wanted a tightly coil look. I believe I have 4a hair, but after much study I should conclude that my hair is probably 4a because my entire head is tight coils, with looser ones in the front. I do not have "Z" pattern hair at all. With that said, I do not know if this technique will work for you if you do not have a curl pattern at all. You can try it and see, because it may work since I am manipulating the hair to achieve the super tight coil look. Also, I viewed this video: Pay close attention to her hair pattern. Defined Curls on 4a/4b Hair: 8 month Update/Comparison
4 Us Naturals: www.4usnaturals.com Follow- http or twitter.com I tried this in June 2010 and I really liked the results. Apparently I wasn't the only one. One of 4 Us Naturals' Facebook Fans asked how I achieved the curly Afro look and I decided to do an updated version of the video now that my hair is longer. It came out nice too. It is kinda too long now to get the afro unless I just let it dry going back because it hangs when wet now. Lol. I of course used Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel to achieve the look. It would have probably dried looking a little more stretched if I would have sat under the dryer or used the diffuser or concentrator attachment on the hand dryer. I didn't use either until the last picture that I took. I don't know if it did any difference and I was so sleepy I didn't care to keep trying to see.

# 34 I Flat Ironed My Natural (4a/4b) Hair!!!
1. I deep conditioned with Silicon Mix and Jasmine oil for about 3 hours 2. I washed my hair with creme of nature (the original formula) and black soap (i was actually doing a comparison...black soap really cleans your hair well :) 3. I blowdried the hair. a. I applied the kimmaytube leave in then Aphogee's Keratin Green Tea leave in as my heat protectant b. After blowdrying I flat ironed my hair in small sections using the comb chase method. I used a regular fine tooth come and a Jilbere straightening comb with the flat iron. The heat setting was 370. I applied Fantasia frizz buster before flat ironing each section. Blowdrying and flat ironing took 2.5 hours in total 3. Up keep will involve sleeping with satin rollers
How I Detangle & Shampoo My Long 4a Natural Hair (Up-close Look)
The detangle/shampoo/condition/twist process takes me about *45 MINUTES* from start to finish. It's about 2.5 hours total if I blowdry and flat-iron "The Works". At the time of filming this video, my hair was mid-back length (fully stretched) I recorded this video earlier this year. I never got around to uploading it because I thought I was going to record more footage and add it to the video. I finally edited it and here it is... Time really flies! MY DETANGLING AND SHAMPOO STEPS 1) DETANGLE & TWIST: I remove as many tangles and shed strands as possible before wetting my hair. Then I put it into twists, then detangle a little more. 2) RINSE : I do a really good water rinse before applying shampoo 3) SHAMPOO/CONDITION ONE SECTION AT A TIME: I like to unravel the twist one at a time and work with one section of loose hair. Sometimes I use a Denman brush during the conditioning step. 4) FINAL RINSE: After conditioner has been applied to all of the twists, I rinse the conditioner out of the twists without unraveling them. 5) AIRDRY OR BLOWDRY: Once I'm done with the final rinse to the twists I apply a leave-in and then allow my twisted hair to airdry. Sometimes I also may blow-dry my hair instead.

NaturalchickEpi.com I transitioned for 7-8 mths before big chopping so I had about only 3-4 inches of new growth if that. My hair was breaking alot during my transition. I didn't know anything about natural hair. It took me over two years to figure out how to retain length. Once I was half way through year two, I started noticing more length retention . To find out more about my regimen which includes products and methods I use, please see links below! :) I don't take any hair vitamins. I personally don't believe that there is a magical pill to make your hair grow long. Once you develop a good regimen, stay consistent, you'll notice more length retention. I suggest trying to eat a little healthier, you should take a multivitamin, and drink more water.
