Right before the start of the race weekend of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Fernando Alonso wanted to try the new 458 Spider, which will be presented at the IAA Frankfurt next Tuesday. The Scuderia Ferrari driver enjoyed the potential of the 8-cylinder mid-rear engine from the Prancing Horse - with hard top and fitted with the same most advanced technological content as the multi-awarded 458 Italia and now available in an "en plein air" version - on the roads around Maranello. Alonso was extremely satisfied with the perfect combination of high performance, exceptional handling and the engine sound the 458 Spider is able to deliver.

The car is based on the framework and engine of the Ferrari 458 Italia but features numerous design changes to tweak it back to an appearance of Ferraris of old including the 512 Boxer and the headlights from the Enzo. The car had originally planned to be a 12 cyclinder version but clearly this was too much to ask and as such it seems to run the V8 and controls of the normal car. This footage was shot for Shmee150, fairly discretely hence the wobbles and lack of focus while the car was outside. During the first round of the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza Circuit I recorded the Ferrari 458 GT3 driven by the Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi with his friend Alessio Salucci (Uccio). As you can see the fantastic livery of the car is the same that Valentino used on the Ford Fiesta WRC during the 2011 Monza Rally Show last November. Ferrari 458 Maxflo Performance Exhaust System
In stock form the 458 put down 450HP/316 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels. First order of business was to build an efficient manifold which is a direct replacement for the OEM units. We designed a header which had larger diameter primaries (1.75"/44mm compared to 1.5"/38mm) and feature a high-velocity 4-into-1 investment cast merge collector. The sport headers save 13lbs/5.9kg over the factory units, and improve power +34HP/38 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels @ 5900RPM. Sport Headers are a direct replacement for the OEM units, and can be utilized with the OEM catalytic converters or 200 cell Sportcats. 200 cell, German imported high-flow tri-metallic sport race catalytic converters improve power by +24HP/20 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels and are a direct replacement for the OEM units. The stock catalytic converters are a 750 CPSI, while we utilizes 200 cell OBD2 Euro level 5 catalytic converters to improve power, sound, while keeping the Check Engine Light off. These also save 11lbs/5kg compared to the stock catalytic converters. Again these are a direct replacement and can be utilized with the stock manifolds/stock muffler or sport headers and Maxflo Muffler system. We designed our Maxflo mufflers as a direct replacement for the large OEM mufflers with factory valves. This 2.75"/70mm system improves on overall sound and power, picking up 8HP/5 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels. You can utilize the muffler with the OEM tri-tips, or use "458 Challenge" dual-tips which are 4.5 ...

This "black beauty" was one of the first black 458 Italias in the middle east and comes with a custom made interiror.Brand new AVD.1 wheeles where custom made for this Italia including carbon parts. The video shows the many accelerations including some flat outs and some lovely downshifts.During this ride we hit a topspeed of 245km/h! NOTE: Before you complain about the fast driving please keep in mind that this video was recorded on midday during ramadan, meaning the streets were empty and it was possible to drive that fast.No other cars and drivers have been endangered! A couple months ago I was approached by the producers of Discovery's "Son of Guns" tv show about using some of my Youtube footage in an upcoming episode. It turned out they used several of my video clips, both HD and high speed footage. If you blink, you'll probably miss it! Sons of Guns is an interesting "reality" type show (often a little over-the-top in melodrama IMHO) about a gun shop called "Red Jacket Firearms". In real-life, the owner Will Hayden is facing some legal trouble and actually lost his gun manufacturer license and is currently using one of his employee's license for now. I'm sure you can read more about this with a Google search. It's entirely possible Hayden will be jailed in the near future. This may be the last season of Sons of Guns.
