Federal HST 9mm 147 gr JHP SIM-TEST w/Denim
Simple penetration and expansion test of the Federal HST 9mm 147 grainhollowpoint, using a diluted form of SIM-TEST Ballistic Testing Media. This format is comparable to ballistic gel, and includes four layers of denim. Video includes brief overview of the cartridge, recoil shots, and one shot test. Post-shot evaluation shows bullet path through the block, average diameter, and retained weight. Test gun was a Glock 19 with 4" barrel. My 5-shot average muzzle velocity was 1006 fps. Test shot is from 10 feet. BB calibration, approx. 600 fps, was 3.60", average of 5 shots. VERY IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING AMMO TESTS ON THIS CHANNEL: Early on, I used wetpack for ammo testing, with or without denim. Beginning in 2011 I use SIM-TEST calibrated to ballistic gel specs plus 4 layers of denim. The denim is an IWBA standard simulating the density of heavy clothing. Please understand that these techniques are merely representations to indicate possible ballistics; they are not intended to replicate real-world street results. Even by adding bone, additional clothing, etc., there are just too many factors involved in a self-defense scenario to offer a 100% degree of accuracy when compared to street results. Referee Jan Veerhas told him there was not one for a 147, just £4000 for the biggest break of the tournament. O'Sullivan duly got to 140 with only the final black left on the table and then shook hands with King and Verhaas, saying he was not going to finish off the break as there was no special prize. Verhaas persuaded O'Sullivan to pot the final black for his fans in the Glasgow crowd, which he duly did with a flourish. The break was the tenth maximum of his career, and he now holds the professional record. O'Sullivan said afterwards not getting a bonus for scoring a maximum 147 was "a bit disappointing. They are magical moments and they deserve magical bonuses." So what happened? "The ref... played a guilt trip on me, saying do it for your fans." O'Sullivan, nicknamed The Rocket, plays Whirlwind Jimmy White in the fourth round.
