The Elephant Child - A Children's Story
This short story was written by Mahesh in the Summer of 2005, when he was 13. He took a high school creative writing class offered by Northwestern University, Chicago, over the Internet. The assignment was to create a short story using the style of a writer he liked - he chose Rudyard Kipling. This story was published in the Fall 2005 issue of 'The Writers Slate,' a children's literary magazine. Another story he wrote for that course was published in a book entitled Moe's Cafe. My good friends, Phani Tetali, a talented cartoonist, and Steve Hanulec, a young man of many talents, brought this story to life. Thanks, guys!

A Home For Brownie - A Children's Story
UPDATE: About a week after the launching of this video the real Brownie, the dog who inspired this story, was surrender at the NYC Animal Shelter and the young couple that adopted him cannot be found anywhere. He was surrender by a neighbor. Brownie has since been returned to the rescue group and is once again up for adoption. -- "A Home For Brownie" is a children's story written by Jan Major and illustrated by Madelyn Germosen. It is a story of a misunderstood pit-bull puppy named Brownie who finds that because of his looks, he's found it unusually difficult to find a home. Passed along from foster parent to foster parent, a local rescue group struggles to find sweet Brownie the perfect forever home. This story was inspired by a real pit-bull puppy named Brownie, whom NYC based group Ready For Rescue (www.readyforrescue.org) successfully rescued from the animal shelter and placed in a wonderful forever home (after many tries - all for the silly reasons that come up in the story). Edited and Narrated by Eric M. Norcross, this "video book" has been produced to raise awareness for animal rescue nationwide and to strike a blow into the assumptions of people in regards to dog breeds - specifically pit-bulls. Where's My Teddy? - Children's Story
After being given this book to use as part of a "storysack" school project, one of the tasks involved making a tape of the story. As things have moved on since the idea of storysacks began my daughter said that they sometimes watched DVDs on their "magic board" so we decided to make a "tape" for the 21st century, which is of course VIDEO! We also made literacy and numeracy games, so what started out as a somewhat daunting exercise became quite enjoyable. So follow the story of three bears, a boy and some dark woods to find out what lies inside.

He has two living companions, a spider and a caterpillar, whom are making plans to become something great. Slowly his friends leave on their exciting journeys, leaving Sid by himself, longing for his own life changing event. My name is Daniel Pagan and I posted my story because I feel that my story is special, engaging and unique. Children want to learn, to grow! When you are so small, you look toward big things and you dream about being in new places. I feel that my story inspires young readers to let their imaginations run wild. More importantly, my story will show young children that they are a masterpieces waiting to happen. I am a special education teacher living in Kentucky. I also have a Bachelors degree in Art. I am a musician as well and I feel that writing songs has helped me to write my picture book stories. I plan on using Sid the Seed as a teaching tool to inspire kids to reach their full potential.
