Mild Traumatic Brain Injury [5 of 20]: Effects of TBI - Biomechanics and Pathophysiology
Often called America's "silent epidemic," mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) affects 5.7 million individuals nationwide. Otherwise known as concussions, mTBIs comprise over 75% of traumatic brain injuries. Fortunately, most people recover completely and are fully functional within a few months. In about ten percent of cases, however, and especially where there has been repeated injury, symptoms can persist and profoundly alter the lives of the affected individuals and their families. Cognitive deficits, memory problems, emotional outbursts, impulsive and erratic behavior, sleep problems, headaches, and other issues can make mTBI much more than a "mild" condition. Compounding the problem is the alarming prevalence of misdiagnosis by physicians, which is due largely to the lack of a reliable physical test for mTBI (it often does not register on CATs, MRIs, etc.). This misdiagnosis results in improper treatments, wasted resources, and an untold amount of difficulty, doubt and confusion for the individual who has sustained the injury. Whiplash 5 of 20 Sprain Whiplash injury occurs as a result of rear end car collisions or at the time of sports activities; being hit/pushed from rear with force. Due to whiplash a person can sustain multiple region injuries such as pain in neck and upper back, shoulder, chest and other regions, could experience severe headaches and many other painful symptoms. This type of severe sprain strain injuries, in many cases leads to partial or even total rotator cuff tears, multiple level of disk herniathions, rib rotation, acute inflammations. If not addressed appropriately, these injuries could become chronic inflammation, which with time can cripple a person. But even with no so significant structural damages, this type of soft tissue injuries must be addressed by adequate treatment, that includes myofacial release techniques, trigger point therapy, ice and cold applications, post-isometric relaxation techniques, lymph drainage for lymphedema size management and more. Each time it contains: 2Tbsp 100% Maple Syrup 2Tbsp Lemon juice (Freshly squeezed) A pinch of Cajun pepper Tepid water oh, and at night I will drink slimming herbal tea and every morning I will drink a litre of luke warm salt water....its gross. Chapter 4: The Ace of Aces and the Dude of Dudes Last Words is an autobiography by American stand-up comedian George Carlin. It was published on November 10, 2009. In Last Words George Carlin tells the story of his life from birth, literally, to his final years. He also wrote a special parting gift to the world. The book contains photos taken throughout Carlin's life. It was released over a year after Carlin had died. In 1993, George Carlin asked his friend and bestselling author Tony Hendra to help him write his autobiography. The two of them had scores of conversations, many were recorded, for almost fifteen years. During the conversations, they discussed Carlin's life, times, and evolution as a major comedian artist. When Carlin died on June 22, 2008 at age seventy-one, Hendra set out to assemble the book just as Carlin would have wanted. This book was also released in Audiobook format, with George's brother Patrick reading the book.
